Accepting what we've become

In my opinion the 40k need to wind their collective necks in and try a bit of unwavering support , and no, parading around the ground prematch with blue flares doesn't count, its when the misplaced pass occurs I'm talking about, instead of the groans a bit of encourage is needed.

It's no coincidence that the best everton have done in the last few years is during covid in an empty stadium, we have a squad of shithouses.

The boo boys need to wipe down the piss and do one

That's just me tho
those pyro setting off supporters kept us up last 2 years. have no doubt about that. the players helped just about

The key thing is we ride out the storm and get our finances under control whilst staying in the league.

We were relegation possibilities from the mid 90s to mid 00s. We've only had 2 years if it so far and with the stadium costs on top of everything else it's going to be tough.

We have to be shrewd, clever and unsentimental.

If we manage that, with a bit of luck we'll be ok 😁

Exactly this. Relegation in the last two seasons would have been the Armageddon situation. We would have been going down with players on huge wages that nobody would take off us whilst still have most of the stadium to build. These contracts all end at the end of this season. The next 3 seasons are about survival and hopefully putting in place the infrastructure that can see us rise and get some dignity back

I was reading the transfer thread this morning and one thing strikes me every single time I venture in there is the level of delusion as to our current standing and what we can expect as a club.

The number of times we turn our noses up at potential signings because they supposedly aren't good enough for us, people speculating about why we haven't gone for this player or that player, when realistically they're way out of our reach.

We are a club that for the next few years will be threatened with relegation and it doesn't matter how much you bang on about our history it doesn't make us an attractive proposition in the present. If you accept where we currently are and the grind that it's going to be over the next few years to get out of it then you'll feel much better, don't have an aneurysm when Antonio or Adams get mentioned, they're currently our level both ability wise and financially.

Calm down, accept our current situation and lower your expectations and things won't seem quite so bleak.
Was your Therapist alright with you Forwarding that !!

I've come to terms with where Everton currently are as a club but what I can't accept is that we're going to be stuck in a relegation battle every season.
The decision making at the club has been absolutely awful for far too long. Improve the way the club is run, improve the scouting network, improve the recruitment, improve the culture within the club and we can get back to mid-table mediocrity again.
I've been saying for years that we need another manager like Moyes to give us some stability and I reckon Dyche can do that. He's the kind of manager that will stick around for 5+ years if we don't sack him. He may not play the most exciting football but he'll get the players playing as a team, he won't accept players that don't put in 100%.
Whatever happens we're in for a rough few seasons but I'll always remain optimistic that, in the words of D:ream, things can only get better.

20=1 LADS

Seriously though no matter how and it gets we don’t have to settle for Che Adams. If Carlisle United were a PL club they shouldn’t settle for Che Adams.

What we've become is not owned by oil. Unless you're owned by oil these today there's no point even looking at football results, let alone what banquets are on offer at the high table of transfers. Even your club us owned by oil, there's the overhanging nag that all you've done is buy success.

I lament the death of sport.
We were all chomping at the bit to spend Uncle Uzzy's ill gotten gains, myself included (pity we spent it on rubbish), so I have no problem with the mega rich clubs doing what they do. A seat at the big table is a long way off for us right now and the elite are doing all they can to pull up the drawbridge and make it tougher still, but no empire lasts forever and we will rise again at some point. I just hope I live to see it. I'm grateful to have been around for the 80's. Right now I'd settle for a team that gave us a bit of pride, so that when I encounter the multitude of RS fans, there's a bit of banter and a few insults, as opposed to the horrible sympathy they throw our way these days.

Our billionaire was nothing compared with oil, even before he became persona non grata because his mate in Russia went postal. And even if he were, the drawbridge of ffp is already up.
