Accepting what we've become

It’s that sort of thinking that has put the club where it currently is
Within the organisation certainly. Well that and having two utter maniacs at the helm. I accept that we are where we are and it’s going to be a dog fight until we can get the team and the finances on a sure footing. Doesn’t mean the fans shouldn’t lobby for change and the things can’t be improved by competent people being brought in to run the place.

What we've become is not owned by oil. Unless you're owned by oil these today there's no point even looking at football results, let alone what banquets are on offer at the high table of transfers. Even your club us owned by oil, there's the overhanging nag that all you've done is buy success.

I lament the death of sport.
Brentford, Brighton, Villa, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd. All top half last season and all competitive. None owned by oil

Exactly this. Relegation in the last two seasons would have been the Armageddon situation. We would have been going down with players on huge wages that nobody would take off us whilst still have most of the stadium to build. These contracts all end at the end of this season. The next 3 seasons are about survival and hopefully putting in place the infrastructure that can see us rise and get some dignity back
And the result of that would have been a financial disaster for Moshiri as he would have been forced to firesale Everton and take the hit personally. But he is hanging in there with Everton Football Club taking the financial hit as opposed to him.

I agree we have to realistic on where we are. Two religation scraps in a row, I expect a third. We can't expect the club to be buying world class players. Especially as we don't have a big pot of money. But we don't have to like it and we absolutely have to work to better it.

Hopefully we'll be be safe a little earlier this season. Get better with a mixture of hard work, improved organisation and hopefully improving the quality of players we sign. It's going to take a long time to be challenging for Europe again. But it has to be noted that there wasn't a big gap between midtable and 3rd from bottom last season. If that trend carries on, a large improvement of finishing position isn't against realistic achieveability.

Accepting we can't compete isn't what we should tolerate at all, we should all keep pushing for change until we get it newcastle fans did look where they are now.
