Well he was good against Southampton and Bournemouth, did well when he came on in the cup game.

I know all this you are saying, that's not really the point I am making. Let me bounce your question back at you, What has Lookman done to "deserve" a start? Purely not being Walcott?

What did gomes do to deserve a start? Dinge? Bernard? It's not about what he's done to deserve it, it's more about the fact Walcott has played himself out of the starting 11 and lookman is his understudy. Once lookman gets his chance to start then it's up to him to keep it or play someone else there.

A run of games on the bench with do the world of good for Walcott. If he can't get his starting spot back because someone is doing well then that's his fault.

But the manager sees these players in training too. Maybe he is not doing quite enough to get a start?

I am not against either of them playing, I just don't get the shouts of Lookman deserving a start (and many have said it) when there is nothing to back it up.

I thought he was good yesterday, i like some of you on here think he deserves a chance to start next week. The only thing that worries me is him playing on same side as coleman. I though seamus was awful yesterday.

He has had two on the run, that's it.

He needs to make his own opportunities when he gets his chances! He did well last week which gave him another chance to get 30 mins this weekend and he didn't do much with it.
Think you're being a bit hard on him there. He did OK when he came on and got himself involved.

I'd start him against Brighton. Walcott has played every game this season and was involved in some of our better play yesterday. His pace always makes him a threat and he got himself in some good positions that he didn't make the most of. But he won't have the same opportunity to use that pace against Brighton who will undoubtedly defend deep. Lookman's trickery may be the better option n the day which is why I'd go with him. Walcott could probably do with a bit of a rest anyway.

It's a squad game and now we have a decent squad we should utilise it. I'd probably bring Walcott back in against Chelsea.

Yeah cant disagree with any of this, I am just getting narked about the whole deserving thing I think.

I think all players deserve the opportunity if they are training well and showing the right attitude. They may need to wait for that opportunity to come along, especially if the team is playing well. But we have a good squad now and to keep them all happy they all need to get some game time.

At this moment not being Walcott gives him 75% of the shirt in my veiw.

I dont think Lookman had done any better than Walcott when he’s played.
