My opinion is that Lookman's level of performance through his career is high enough and his potential high enough that he should have been given chances once it became clear that Bernard was a player who was not going to get into dangerous areas himself but rather be a player who links together. I prefer wingers who are going to create danger on their own and not as much the ones who rely on setting up the fullback or linking with other midfielders to produce. I also think Lookman would score more goals. I recognize Bernard's value in bringing Digne into the attack. I believe Lookman would exceed that value with his ability to beat players and create shots for himself and others. And even if this were not immediately true the chances that Lookman grows into a better player are worth accepting a slightly lower level temporarily.
I'm not responding to this because I've done this too much. I don't expect everyone to agree but I'd also appreciate if I wasn't told that I didn't understand football because I feel this way.
