Thought he had a lot of potential at first , but he hasn't moved forward in the last year. Whether its his fault or the club's ( or likely a combo of both ) its not going to happen at Everton. Seriously ...how many managers have not been impressed enough to give him the starts. I'm tired of the drama ...get shut and move on. My gut feeling is that he will always be long on " potential " / short on actual consistent performance. Good luck and goodbye.

It would make sense to check him out and I really wish they had done that.

They will have seen enough of him this past year in training and whatever time he did get.

Also worth remembering the player may just have not wanted to be here. You can't really fix that once the decision has been fully made.

Gueye chose to sit himself out after the move fell through. Silva didn't choose to sit him because it caused us to get annihilated by Wolves.
I don't believe this...If he was disappointed, which he said he was then he wouldn't be fully focussed so Silva dropped him. Good management imo. He quickly got his head back in the game. If you have some quotes saying Gueye called the shots on this then I'd like to see them

For me, it ultimately boils down to: “does the manager fancy him?” And it sounds as if the answer is no.

Plenty of top quality players just haven’t fit into the preferred system of other managers and gone on to do excellent elsewhere.

Its clear the lad has talent and the blame for the why it hasn’t worked out here has to be levelled at both Lookman and Koeman, Allardyce and Silva.

Naturally, as fans we’ll gravitate to thinking he’s a bad egg and we’re better off without him, but it does concern me that we’re losing a top quality young English wide player to a Champions League club where he will probably go straight into the starting lineup.

The fact he plays in multiple positions we aren’t naturally blessed with quality in anyway, it surprises me that we’re letting him go and that Silva hasn’t been prepared to do more to integrate him.

Far be it from me to advise MS on how to manage but It’s not like we’ve been flying in the cups or the league and he hasn’t had at least 10 dead rubber games where he could have said “There you go lad, you’re getting 90 minutes no matter what happens, I believe in you!”

Shame to see him go. Definitely feel it’s one that will bite us in future.

I'm confident he'll do well, opposing fans will question our judgement to have sold him.

The bottom line is, he didn't want to be here......that is obvious. We made a decent profit on the ra...player.

We'll all fume when he becomes like the the two ex Chelsea and Arsenal players doing well in the German League.

Bottom line is, he would never have progressed as we expected him to at Everton. Not everyone 'gets' Everton like we do.

If he wasn't focused enough to play that's surely enough to say he didn't put the PSG thing behind him immediately is it not?

I don't necessarily disagree but I also think it's fair to wonder why that happened here with him and not at RBL who have now spent to summers desperate to sign him and what we could have maybe done to have it not happen.
First of all, he got to play on the left at RBL behind two strikers. Second of all, he got to play in an easier league against easier competition. He also got 4 goals and an assist in 5 games that were definitely run and gun affairs. He played on the left and once in the middle behind combinations of Werner, Poulsen, and Augustin.

Not saying he isn't talented, he is. But he clearly didn't want to be here, so more power to him. As long as we put in a sell-on clause, let's just take the 25M and move on. If it helps us convince Malcom to come who's 7 months older, we'll be FINE. Better, really. We have several talented left sided players and we need a right sided player. It's a better fit for all.

Different standard of league.

When Sancho comes back to the prem he won't do half as well.

The thing I weigh heavily here is that Silva has a record of improving younger players. Keane and Zouma have both commented about how his instruction helped them improve. Even Robertson said so from their time at Hull. Granted not every player has seen that kind of improvement yet but it seems like it's a focus of Silva's. Silva's commentary shows that he cares deeply about training and how a player applies himself in training, and Lookman comes up short in that regard. If Lookman is not showing Silva what he wants to see in training, then sell him. Silva's the boss.

Why would you take that? He's not going to be doing it for Everton?
Because our LW had 1 goal and 4 assists last year. I understand Jadon Sancho will never be playing for Everton but acting like his production being in Germany means he can't hack it here is off base imo.

The whole "The German League is terrible" attitude we've adopted on here is crazy.
