Ademola Lookman

Didn't deny his skill levels.. but being fair to how Lookman is being judged. I can think of loads of eye popping twists and turns and dinks around the half way line... clearly a good player... As always I can't recall bar a couple moments, what he did of note in the opposition box or around it. Then again I don't remember every moment any player has, just my overall perception of what I have seen. I also don't normally respond or debate this much, as I've never seen anyone change an opinion on a forum, even when staring facts in the face... but I just can't connect what I've seen to what seems to be general sentiment.. Lookman I mean with that statement... Done with it now... Each to his own and we have bigger issues to address upfront.

Do t be upset it's just my opinion ion as well, just think Lookman has flattered to deceive, great skill levels, but plays with his head down, now that's just my take on it

There's always an excuse trundled out for Brands.

The far more peresuasive assessment is to ask what tangible benefit was made through delaying his departure from last summer to this one. There are none. Ergo, it was a bad decision.
How is almost doubling your money on a player who has hardly kicked a ball for us a bad decision? Its great business, they had a season with him and now hes obviously not in there plans, a bad decision would of been letting him go before having a close look at him..

I'm not too sad by losing Lookman and the fee is good. He isn't going to be a regular starter. As stated elsewhere, if we are getting nearly £40m for Vlasic and Lookman that's great business

I really don’t know what type of spell Bernard has put on this fanbase, he was a free signing remember and yet every CL or top 6 club rejected him, makes you wonder

I’m not sure how you can know this mate.

Bernard shouldn’t be anywhere near our 1st team if we want to break the top six, i’ll grant you that.

It's a significant profit. Lookman cost about £11m and had a 4.5 (5 for accounting purposes) year contract.

With two years left on his deal, the accounts give Lookman a current value of £4.4m

We've sold him for 25m euros, or just over £22.5m on today's exchange rate

Means the accounts are going to show a profit of a touch over £18m for him - that's good going for a lad who hasn't really kicked on here (even if we all know he has talent)

Using the same methodology, we've made a profit of about £8m on Vlasic

The "net spend" is far less important to us these days than the accounting profits and losses
That’s true, which makes it even better in practice, especially if we manage to get rid of McCarthy, Bolasie, Mirallas and Tosun, accounts-wise we’ll be in a great position

The gripe I have with Dave's views on this subject isn't necessarily that I think his views on the players we should get in or sell are wrong, it's that he seems to think it can all be done in one transfer window, and if it isn't then it's a failure

Some players are impossible to shift because they're on fat contracts and won't accept pay cuts, this makes it hard to get players in. It's a reality that there is no magic wand to, so we need to do things incrementally. It's frustrating, but the argument that "if Brands is so good, he should be able to" is verging on pathetic. Nobody ever said he was a miracle worker, just that he seems like he knows what he is doing

Agree 100%

That’s exactly my point, I’ve even seen some people claim he’s world class when in reality he would struggle to make the bench for every top 6 side

I'm sorry but I'm not having that they were desperate for him to succeed and then threw him in for about 500 minutes of the game time this season. That's clear hyperbole.
From schoolboy football to Professional football the one rule applies
If you don't put it in in training you don't play at the weekend
When I ran schoolboy teams if you didn't show up for training on tues/thurs without a very good excuse you were not even a sub at the weekend.
I've dropped my best players for this.
It was practically club policy
