It's also not ideal to play competitive games starting early on and have to try and juggle two games a week with 20 or so useful players. It has negatives.

maybe use it as an opportunity to give the youngsters a run out to see what they can do. Isn't that what you've been banging on about, them not having opportunities?!!

Anyone know if he's gone yet? if not, i can drop him at the airport.

Maybe it isn't but I'd rather be in it than not. More games tends to mean more game time for younger players. If we can't be in the Champions League I'd quite happily be in the Europa league, take it serious and try and win the bloody thing, at least Moyes had a go and we were only denied by one of the best goalkeeping performances I've ever seen against Fiorentina from Sebastian Frey.

What did it matter that some people on a forum were against Batshuayi? Tieleman's would have added an attacking threat around the front three and Gabiadini did well enough wehn first going to S'ton before picking up an injury and change of manager occured, and has just gone to Napoli - a club who know a decent striker when they see one.

That list cant simply be dismissed. I was asked to come up with names we could have turned to and did so.

The benefit of “delaying” it, which he didn’t, because he wasn’t expecting him to flop so badly, was that if he came good like they hoped he’d be starting for us.

Gabiadini stunk of pure Jelavic, half a decent season then utter tosh, now gone to Sampdoria and is still utter pony. Batshuayi I would have taken I agree. Tielemans would have been a weird one to do with Gylfi being here but he is a cracking player

I just worry that we will have it mess our season up like the last two times. The majority of our youngsters looked meh against Sion which is basically Europa level. I'm not sure we could just toss them in on their own which means we have people doing double weeks.

Sorry, Sampdoria not Napoli.

Gabiadini might have sparked for a few months. A loan might have been done. No way a FT contract, I concede that. Batshuayi we agree on.

But there's a world full of strikers out there and I expected a DoF on top of their game last summer/January to get one. I remain alarmed we still have none.

Nah I don't think Gabiadini would have done any better than what we currently had. He was awful after his initial purple patch.

It is concerning we don't have one but we still have 3 weeks to find one. I think we will sign a good striker in the last week of the window, not ideal but much rather that than sign another Tosun level of player

I didn’t dismiss it did I? If I was dismissing it I’d have come back with:

How many goals did batshui score/assist last year?
Tielmans isn’t a striker.
Garibaldi went to sampdoria who are budget, how many goals/assists did he get at Southampton?

But rather than dismiss it, I put it to you that this wasn’t a strong list of candidates, and so you hopefully could see from the other perspective.
