Ronald Koeman came in the December and two months later he played me and let me play until the end of the season.
“Young players need to make mistakes to learn from them and you need to play week in, week out.

Couldn’t agree more. Why Silva didn’t just give him the last 10 games and say, “you’re getting 90 minutes, no matter what happens, I’ve got faith in you”.

Obviously it didn’t happen so yeah, we move on. But it’s irritating that these steps haven’t been taken and we see another young player with potentially the highest quality slip away.

People use this “4 managers haven’t started him” statement as a stick to beat him with. The fact that all 4 managers didn’t feel safe enough in their jobs to throw a young and untested player in, because they couldn’t afford a poor performance, is probably far more telling - ironically he will probably fair better at clubs in European competition with a more consistent and stable management.

Because Richarlison and Bernard were our starting wingers and playing very well, why would Silva drop either of them for a lad who isn't doing it in training?

Show us the money you sausage munching box heads and then we can send the sour faced get your way and close this thread!!!!

.... if you believe that Silva has done the right thing picking Walcott ahead of Lookman in countless games where we had nothing to lose and nothing to gain, I’m really not sure what to say.
Walcott is a great footballer who fails to perform. Lookman hasn't reached those heights.

Answered your own question there, because he obviously didn't/doesn't have faith in him.

probly because silva was under so much pressure to win some games he played his best team at all times.

if he had played a weaker team and lost more games then he Silva himself might have been the one leaving.

We need wide players. Lookman is a young wide player with great potential that needs minutes. We weren’t ever going to finish higher than 7th or lower than 9th.

Bernard wasn’t playing very well. He’s an average player at the level we aspire to and we have no competent centre forward.

We’d have been much better off giving Lookman a run of games and Richarlison playing through the middle with either Bernard or Walcott on the other side.

Worst case, we’d sell Lookman for what we have now. Best case he performs and either sees a long term future here or we sell him for double that figure.

sorry i missed out "not that selling him now isn't the right thing for all"

it was never going to work out with us

lets just hope that we have a big sell on clause like every other team generally does these days..

if he turns into Ronaldo and RB sell him for 150 m then we should get at least another 25% of that
