Anyway, ive said my piece on this boy over and over again.

I held big hopes for him, I was as baffled as the next person why he wasnt getting games ahead of Walcott certainly and also yes Bernie, considering how low his digits are.

But after Silva publically called him out it all made sense.

The lad is VERY talented and if he can get his head right and apply himself, he will no doubt go on to have a very good career. It hasnt worked out for him here, whether thats his fault is very much up for debate, but I shall no longer be adding to it.

Goodbye RATFINK, may your feet stand on a thousand lego pieces.
I agree with everything except the RATFINK line, seems a bit unnecessary, especially after saying 'I shall no longer be adding to it' lol

A club like RBL that has finished 2nd 6th and 3rd the last three seasons. Like it or not they are quickly becoming one of the big boys. There's no reason to expect them not to be a regular CL team in that league. I'd like to think Everton have the capacity to be better than them but right now we aren't.

Now as for my argument being all about his time in another league that just isn't true. It's no secret that I do rate his performances there highly but he's done much more with us than Goat is letting on. Just this last season he had two assists one of which won us the match. He tore apart City and Kyle Walker specifically. He made a mess of Kante and Azpilicueta on the same dribble. He set up Tosun for a big chance and got robbed of scoring himself by Etheridge against Cardiff. And then inexplicably he disappeared only to reemerge with a promising cameo vs Burnley and a big hand in scoring an equalizer at Spurs.

So when I say people are being dishonest when they say he's done nothing in blue this is what I mean. He's done quite a few things considering the minutes he got. If it's easier to say the manager said he didn't work hard so leaving him out made sense than you can do that but it didn't make sense to me.
I remember this alright, it seemed strange that he was dropped after playing pretty well. Thing is though as GOAT mentioned, it became clear after Silva's seemingly very honest answer about his training levels... He has to keep the bar high in that only those training hard get to play, keeps everyone on their toes so I applaud this in Silva big time.

The comments came 6 weeks after he was dropped. Maybe that was the reason but it seems odd that he would stop working hard the moment he got a half decent chance. And if he did do that the good management thing to do would have been to try and encourage him not to exile him.

Ah come on he wasn't exiled he was still being subbed on more than anyone, more than Tosun for example even when DCL was exhausted...yet Tosun wants to keep fighting for his place. Despite wanting to leave last year Lookman never said anything positive that I can remember about being at Goodison. Gana came straight out with a statement the week after his disappointment. I reckon the good run in RBL went to his head a bit myself but we'll never know. Not exiled at all though

Tosun played almost twice as much as him. And I meant the specific period between the Millwall game and Silva's comments when Lookman basically didn't play.

Because we could have had that cash earlier and used it to invest in a striker last summer and had a player up to speed with Everton and no doubt saving the club the extra cash that strikers will go for this summer...it's an upward spiral in fees and we'll pay more this summer.

You went through a list of strikers that included Batman and gabbiadini earlier. Are they the strikers you wish we signed? Like it or not lookman showed talent and they wanted to keep him to see how he could do. It was their first season and they needed time to Valuair players and he was one they saw something in and wanted to keep

I'd like to hear YOUR list....

I wouldn’t have minded Batman but we couldn’t have loaned him after we got Zouma and not sure chelsea would have sold him last season. I just don’t think that keeping lookman for last season was a bad decision that’s all. I can fully understand why they did and don’t think we lost out and potentially we could have had a first team player out of it. Different views I guess .

He played in the Ukrainian league, not Russia. Bernard Doubles Lookman's avg key passes, slightly more dribbles per game avg... double the crossing average...that's a player that hadn't played in 6 months and moved to a more physical league. Right now he's the better player, maybe not by the time AL is his age but who cares about that. 1 Key difference above everything else is Bernard wants to and enjoys playing for Everton, AL doesn't appear to want to and definitely doesn't look like he enjoys it. 'nuff said really
Ukrainian league makes his record just as bad, how people can think averaging worse than 1 in 6 is good enough for the top 6 in a massively superior league is incredible. Those other stats are expected for a player who’s been given far more time and consistency in the first XI when Lookman’s attributes are significantly better than Bernard’s, again his dribbling, speed, goal threat, finishing and creativity (when played consistently and not 5 minute spells) are all much better

Also you say it doesn’t matter who’s better at the same age but Bernard has already established himself as an above average but far from special player, Lookman has so much more potential and the decision could look awful in a few years, especially if Bernard is still in the starting XI

If the player is stinking out training sessions, openly looking to leave and not taking his opportunities, unfortunately, it doesn't matter how much potential he has.

A lot people are suggesting that he hasnt been given the chance and has been badly treated, however every manager wants to play their best side. Its clear that successive managers didn't see kids as the assett we all hoped he would be

It would be nice however if we had a manager with enough foresight to maybe sacrifice his best side on occasion to have a better side down the road. This situation is like if Martinez had used Leon Osman over Barkley. I doubt Barkley would have reacted well tbh.
