Strange is it not that we lot who know a great deal about football, universally condemn Iwobi to the bin and yet Carlo who knows everything there is to know sees something in him, or should I just say picks him. I think I am right and Iwobi is garbage, so there you are Carlo.

Don't think he plays when he's got more choices mate.

He's not though. I don't expect anyone to go back and watch that mess from today again, but there are two or three times where he gets the ball inside and not pinned to the touchline and they are basically the only times we opened Chelsea up before they went two up.
He very much is.

Had about 4 good games in 2 seasons. He's abysmal. Truly Walcott's replacement in the "hopeless footballer we overpaid Arsenal for" category.

You are grasping at straws to make out anything else.

"He will give high quality in our attack. He can provide creativity playing from the left or behind the striker as an offensive midfielder.

"And if he can – and I am sure he can – score more goals, it will help the team.

"If you look at our wingers and the players in forward positions, it is something I demand from them

So he wasnt signed as a RW
Nigeria use him as a #10 or even box to box. Arsenal used him essentially as a wide #10 in the same way they used Ozil but obviously on the other flank.

He should just go. Best for everyone. But I'm disappointed that we've never really gotten it right.

Iwobi on Wenger and his position

"But then he said because of my style of play, I'll be number 10 on the left coming inside"

Ok, mate.

I've shared them a few times on here. Here;

I don't accept then the "he's not a winger" shout.

Just because he's not very good, it doesnt' mean we're playing him out of position.

They signed him to play on the wing, with versatility to play behind the striker.

They both said and to deliver goals/assists. How's that going?!

He can play on the wing and has done for Arsenal, the shouts are that he's not a RW, which he clearly isnt and hasnt played there much..

Being a right footed winger on the left means he can cut inside for the overlap, or cut inside for a shot/through ball.

If he plays on the RW, its harder to cut inside or play through balls and its more awkward with the right foot. Plus he doesnt have the pace to go past a player and doesnt have crossing ability as he wasnt brought up in a system that crossed the ball. Pretty much he's innefective on the RW.

Either play him as a LW, give him a chance as a no 10 or sell him.

I've grasped at straws before and it has worked out. I don't know what Iwobi would look like given a more ideal set of circumstances to play in, he might still be below what we need, but what we're doing with him now is a mess.

What frustrates me is you'll see him cut inside from the right but he just doesn't trust his left foot to thread a pass so he often ends up playing something conservative with his right. Coming from the other side he'd be able to take more chances.

He's hopeless and nowhere near a good enough player to justify having to adjust the entire tactical set up to get something out of him.

Unless he goes to West Brom and becomes a marquee player for them he's never going to get that here. It's up to him to contribute in the system the manager believes will get the most out of all of our players. He's just simply not up to it at all.

Playing him where Gomes is without switching anything would be better for him and requires no switches. Same with Sigurdsson.

It wouldn't because he's only good at getting the ball past a player by knocking it around them on the wing and then maybe putting a cross in.

It's about the only thing he can do.
He's not good at that though. We're treating him like he is but he isn't.

Coleman, Mina, Doucoure, James, Davies (unable to start). At least 5 unavailable to start tonight.

There was not another obvious option on the bench who was better than Iwobi. People get angry at selections, but Carlo has barely been able to name a bench in recent weeks.
I mean Mina being fit is neither here nor there regarding Iwobi getting in the team. We don’t have very good options in attacking areas, even when everyone is fit.
