We paid £28m for him.

Wed be lucky to get whats left on his amortisation. Also he's on over 75kpw.

No team that would be interested in taking him can afford those wages.

Hes got leaving on a free to Turkey written all over him.
The deal was 28m plus add ons.

Hes been here 3 or 4 years now, theres not a chance we havent achieved all his add ons.

He cost us 34million English pounds, up there with 1 of the biggest wastes of money this club has spent.

Some incentives they must have been - finish in bottom 5, score fewer than 5 goals per season….
If we’ve hit the add ons given our form since he arrived, it was pointless having them, might as well just called it £34m if such mediocrity added £6m to the initial fee!

Arsenal turned down a bid of 30m, so I doubt they put any add-ons in that wouldnt be achieved.

They will have all been appearance based.

I agree the fact he's one of our better players is more of an indictment on where we are rather than him being incredible.

Soon we are going to have McNeil, Iwobi, Harrison, Danjuma and hopefully Gnonto as widemen / #10s, hopefully that will address the issue of relying on one player to create everything for us.

For me Iwobi's biggest weakness is that he offers very little goal threat himself.
And he's allergic to headers. Funny how that affliction has spread to his contract situation, and so the club continues to dither more than 12 months on.
What a shining example both sides are.

Thats literally our whole transfer budget this summer.

You want £20m for him. That expecting over 70% of the original fee paid for one of our biggest ever flops.

When we signed him, the difference between 28 and 35 wasn't a big deal for us, obviously it is for us now as we're skint. Also, I guess we'll never know buy you are assuming we've paid no more than the initial 28 mil fee at this point, if there was an appearance clause for us or for Nigeria we will have defo had to pay Arsenal more at this point.

I get your point though, 70% of the original fee might seem like a lot for a player in his last year, maybe 15 is more reasonable. But honestly, look at other deals for players with 1 year left. They're not as cut-priced as you'd think. We all want 10 mil for Demari Gray who only has a year left and no way would I pay that for him, doesn't mean other clubs won't though.
