2022/23 Amadou Onana

I think Doucoure staying will all depend on whether Onana goes.
Rumours already that Utd want Onana. I doubt we'll have both at end of season.
Totally right about his passing game being an issue in the longer term.
Thought it was Arsenal and Cheleea?

Lot of talk of a £70m price tag for him in the summer with United and Newcastle sniffing around. I’d be happy enough with that. I think he’ll be a top player and I love his attitude but at that price point you’d have to be tempted as he’s just been very promising for us so far but nothing irreplaceable.

If Thelwell can flip Onana for double the price we bought him for in one season then I trust him to get a replacement.

If the clause is 20% on profit we'd end up with, £62.4mil.

For a chap who'll be worth £100mil in 2 seasons.

The only reason to sell is if we can sign 2 u21s in his place who can make an initial impact and their values are almost certain do double over 2 years.

He will definitely be off and he's one of our last genuine saleable assets but I'm not sure we'll be in a position to get his full market value if we're in the Championship, think he will go on to be a top player once he matures just a shame we won't see the benefit.

Seem to remember that we have to pay 25% of any profit to his former club when he does go so not likely to make any “real” money from him.
Having said that, we usually get zero from our expensive signings like bolasie, niasse, siggy, walcott , schniderfaud (2m), tuson, Williams and only making 10m on Richy… so actually getting our money back will be a “success” compared to our usual dealings since mosh came in, which is sad to say.
Can also add Mina to that list as it looks like she’s going on a free after 27m being spent on him plus wages.

Mate if Newcastle value gordon at 45m then onnana is worth double. I’m not saying he is bwt… I wouldn’t have signed Gordon for 20m tbh….

My cousin is "mates" with a mate of Pickfords, last thing he heard was he was VERY happy here, despite us being rubbish, hes settled in the area and the only club he "fancied" are United, but he probably wont push for a move if we went down.

Things change of course and if somebody offers him an attractive deal he will bounce.

He flies under the radar at Everton, now and again the press jump on him, but he would get far more focus at a "bigger" club.
Cousins and there mates. When it comes to football, they really don't get the credit they deserve do they !!

Its meant to be 20% of any profit.

So if we signed him for £33mil and sold for £70mil the 20% would be £7.4mil from £37mil.

£70mil - £7.4mil = £62.6mil.

We would the need to bring in a replacement and another first 11 player.

We have to start thinking and operating like this anyway even if we lose players we imagine could become quality.
The financial mismanagement is tiresome and depressing at this stage
