Not convinced he's gonna be a star player for us.

I'm not really seeing this special player, he good but I don't see that top quality yet, we have seen glimpses but he goes missing way too often
He's 21 with about 30 full 1st team games under his belt and just come off his first season in a new faster and harder league. He's not going to be running games consistently, what he's doing is to be expected.
If he gets more involved in games this season than he did last then he's progressing. If he had loads of experience and was dominating games in France at 21, he would have cost way more and would not be at us.
What did he provide to the team last season - one goal and how many assists? He goes missing far too often and for£33M plus add ons he should be involved a lot more than he is, in the opposition penalty area and helping the team defend in our own penalty area, he is a luxury player we can’t afford. Future possibly, maybe, we need players doing it now, he’s not doing it now where it is neede. He's 21 with about 30 full 1st team games under his belt and just come off his first season in a new faster and harder league. “ He was often our best player last season” It must have been in training Roy, he was poor in most games, substituted in a few, had a very good game versus Arsenal at Goodison, that’s the only one I recall when every player had a good game and he always went missing in the other games. He's a kid, he's made a massive step up every year for the past 3 years. That has prevented him from having a proper pre season anywhere until this year. Make allowances for that and give him a chance. He was often our best player last season in an absolutely abysmal team in a new country at 20 years of age.
His ceiling is far higher than ours at the moment, it hurts me to say.
That pass to Maupay looked better than it was because a Fulham defender slipped before getting to the ball and that shot at goal in the first half, straight at the ‘keeper when he could have moved forward into the penalty area and passed to two teammates in a better position to score.Carved Fulham open with that pass into Maupay yesterday and his mid-range passing was very good.
Last season gave him a sighter, this season he'll show the PL what he can do.
Wow that’s an amazing stat. They reckon most players have on average 90 secs of possession, with full backs and midfielders up to and around 2 mins . It’s great that you think he played well for 2 mins.literally played well for about 2mins in total
The first half of the season he was in our top few players most weeks. He dropped off a bit after Christmas. I know it's a pretty low bar to say he was one of our better players, but, I think he was.“ He was often our best player last season” It must have been in training Roy, he was poor in most games, substituted in a few, had a very good game versus Arsenal at Goodison, that’s the only one I recall when every player had a good game and he always went missing in the other games.
bizarre that some people think a 21 year old should be the finished product, he wouldnt be anywhere near us if he was.
Midfield anchor apparently we’re playing him out of position. This is how I see it. Ducoure is playing in the number 8 role and that is what we all want to see from Onana. He's a box-to-box player, who is playing no. 6. So he's not being played correctly.
Need to switch the roles of Doucs and Onana imo.
At Lille he was playing no. 8. Not sure on his position for Belgium, tbh.
Yes it all about opinions Roy, I think he has played the same way since he came, good in rare patches but definitely not doing enough in nearly every game is the way I’ve seen him.The first half of the season he was in our top few players most weeks. Whether he could be used differently or not I think the important bit of what he's saying there is that we should judge him on what he's actually supposed to do not on what we might want him to do I said the other day the same used to happen with Lukaku when people decided he should be like Drogba and judged him on that instead of judging him on being like Van Nistelrooy which would have been a better comparison. People see Onana as a big strong player and say he should be bulldozing everyone and playing like Yaya Toure but we're not asking him to do that and I don't know if he could anyway. This is how I see it. Exactly this if and that’s a big IF we’re building for the future great signing branthwaite looks decent young player also Patterson not a bad signing for building a squad but what I’ve seen of him he should be out on loan it’s unfortunate we haven’t had a replacement for Coleman for 3 or more years now Kenny was never up to it. Garner good signing and chermiti? who knows but the kind of signing we’ve needed to make, bring Gnonto in and that’s a decent amount of younger players Dobbin and Cannon? They could become first team players who can add something. Problem is we’re expecting all of them to be doing it right now and not allowing them to grow and gain confidence because our squads so poor and we’re relying on younger players to be premier league ready now and our squads not good enough to accommodate them all as starters and learn on the job. It looks a good core of players if we can add good experience to it I expect Onana in another 4 years to really be hitting top player status. Right now he’s an average player and for the money and 22 in a few days I expect a bit more from him tbh and the hype he gets from people just annoys me, he put a few decent passes together in the first half and there was david seaman everywhere.Future possibly, maybe, we need players doing it now, he’s not doing it now where it is neede.
