2023/24 Amadou Onana

Dyche feels like the right manager to get the team back on track after a setback like last night. He’ll give Onana the right balance of support between a telling off and using it to spur him on to improve his game.

He’s a young, talented lad who in a world where we weren’t dancing for pennies would be the bedrock of our team for years to come alongside Garner.

He tried a risky pen because he’s a confident lad. It had either worked in training reasonably often or he’ll be getting questioned by Dyche.

He’s not a mercenary who doesn’t give a toss & will be feeling this. Abusing him just hurts us.
Well said - anyone can miss a peno - the one he did looks worse but timmy cahill twatted one into row z in a cup semi-final - it happens.

Overall he’s coming on well - dyche is doing a good job with him.

One of our best players. I see he's getting the usual abuse.

The best comments typically, "lets sell". Of course for an enormous profit because he's 'terrible'.

I cant tell if they're a special type of dumb or something less savoury.

Enjoy being alone at Christmas...rats.
Oh dear. Onana’s mums online and she’s not happy. Expect the middle finger everyone

He doesn’t deserve any online abuse as it achieves nothing but that was as bad a Lukaku’s miss in the semi.
I’m bored of players who are apparently destined for ‘better things’ f*cking up when they play for us.
I couldn’t care less what he goes into achieve. Do it while you’re here.
That was one of the worst pens I’ve seen and given it would’ve put us into the semi I can only think of him as a tool.

Has anyone blamed him for losing our last 3 penalty shootouts before this one? I see the stereotyping of “bad attitude” is being thrown about since his miss. It was a shocking penalty, the keeper saved it as he is allowed to. Onana was good last night for most of the 90 minutes, Everton were turgid and didn’t deserve to win at all so let’s have it right before we pile in on a young man still learning at the highest level of his profession.
The bitterness and fume from some of you is shameful, the blinkered nonsense of forgetting everything about his actual performance and focusing solely on the penalty is childish beyond belief, maybe you should focus on improving your “attitude“ and gaining some perspective.

If he comes out and issues a public apology to both the fans and his team mates it'll go a long way to redeeming himself.

Unfortunately I imagine if he's of a similiar ilk to Big Rom / Mirallas he'll have already gotten over it this morning and wont be bothered as he knows he'll win shiny things in 12-24 months at a top 6 club. Meanwhile us long suffering fans and players like Coleman and Pickford continue hurting with no success.
