The issue is chaps we've been saying this for the past 28 years now.

When does the playing staff and fanbase develop standards befitting the stature of the football club ?

Mistakes happen (Distin back pass) and players miss pens but yesterday wasn't a standard mistake or miss it was just sheer arrogance/ over confidence by Amadou who lets be honest will see this club as a stepping stone to bigger and better days ahead elsewhere.

I would rather an example be made and the boy have a bruised ego than brush it off as "one of those tings" which reinforces the narrative of this club having no desire or ability to achieve anything of real note.

Publicly haranguing a footballer because he missed a penalty is not befitting the stature of any football club let alone ours.

It would be Karius levels of nonsense.

Also, could run more with the ball instead of the early release.
Back to penalty , no way in training Dyche has seen him pass the ball to keeper and go yep, you will do for me!.

Some of the best penalty takers (Cantona, Balloteli, Jorginho) have used a similar technique. It's no worse than missing the target or hitting it straight at the keeper. A lot of bedwetters in here.

You obviously never saw Cantona take a pen. He scored two like Onana's in the cup final. I think the accusations of arrogance etc. are off the mark. The easy thing to do is blast it when under pressure. Waiting for the keeper to move is a solid option, he just didn't execute.

I dont know why anyone takes this seriously anymore. Its here. Its not going away. You will never ever eradicate it. Most of the time you dont even know if they are fans of any particular club or have chuck norris as their profile pic.
Its here to stay.

But it shouldn't be my friend, we've been starved of success for nearly 3 decades and we had the chance to get into a semi final up against a very beatable Chelsea side or Middlesbrough and we've lost because of the ego of one player.

That shouldn't be something that should just be brushed off because its one of our better talents. If Keane or Young did that yesterday they'll have been pitchforks and lynch mobs.

I like Onana as a player and think he's got a lot of potential... but he'll end up going down the same path as Big Rom & Mirallas if he isn't made an example of as yesterday he was more interested in looking cool on insta to rude boi's in miami doing a Pogba/Bruno Fernandes than just taking a normal pen and securing his clubs place in semi finals.

Unacceptable behaviour (imo).

Jesus, the guy who basically kick started Utd's winning mentality. We may as well pack up now if we don't want self confident footballers in our team. The point is he was a great penalty taker using this exact technique so the technique is not the issue, it was the execution. But that point seems to have sailed way over your head like a blasted penalty by Waddle. If he had back heeled it or tried to do a rabona you may have had a point because they are not common techniques

They have a game plan and it obviously works for them. It's very similar to what we have been doing recently. Soak up the play and then hit on the counter.

If Keane takes the exact same penalty he would get slated of course but he would deffo not be getting called arrogant or that he thinks he is better than us etc.
