2023/24 Amadou Onana

When does the playing staff and fanbase develop standards befitting the stature of the football club ?
The coaching staff had confidence in him. It didn't come off.

Danjuma should have wrapped the win up, rush of blood, hammered a presentable chance wide. Very little is made of that.

Onana is (according to this) one of our more reliable penalty takers.

Besides which, you go on about standards but defend that serial underperformer DBB to the hilt.

Awful, awful penalty, but the personal abuse already on the last 2 pages, like he meant to miss it? Change your nappies children.
Agree. Like ive said before it was dissapointing that he missed it. Im sure he didnt didnt do it on purpose. Penaltys are a lottery, anyone can screw one up for various reasons. Im sure the lad is feeling bad without us all getting on his back and kudos to him for being brave, stepping up and risking abuse from bedwetters.

They have a game plan and it obviously works for them. It's very similar to what we have been doing recently. Soak up the play and then hit on the counter.
Nothing like the way we have played away from home that.

They didn't even try and play football, it was just fall over and waste time, we weren't even good ourselves and missed certain players and still should have won.

It's baffling how they have come to goodispn twice this season and left both times victorious, terrible team.

Its not that baffling really! We didn't take advantage of any of our good spells, they were clinical with theirs. In both games Leno barely had a save to make.

I do wish our players would take a gamble on balls into the box more. Every week McNeil puts a boss ball into the area but we are always on our heels instead of taking a chance. Beto took that chance with his goal hanging by hanging around in a dangerous area waiting for the rebound. It's annoying and been an issue for years now.

Skipped a lot of the pages but assume it was the same as the first few pages after the event.

It was stupid, I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to penalties. You have to find the corners and/or put some welly in it, especially when it is the last penalty to win it. I don't mind the odd 'give it the eyes' but that penalty was, given the situation, atrocious.

However, for me, it is devastating as the competition was winnable but we have to focus on getting more points in the Premier League and re-growing as a club. That includes supporting players like Onana, yes criticise but it would do nobody any favours to abuse.

Yes, they looked terrible last night as they did first game of the season.

Their second half performance was pathetic, just fall over and waste time all game, and would have been for nothing if onana wasn't a nobhead
Or if we had not let them score? Or we had found a winning goal...? I mean its ridiculous to lump it all on one player who was brave to step up and missed a penalty.

Yes, you can be disspointed and say he could maybe have done something that didnt look so lacklustre. But the abuse is wrong, lets just move on. Hes been playing well IMO and im sure he will come back to make ammends next game. Lets continue to back all the players!!

It's going to be difficult for him as we don't get to cup quarter finals that often. You need real performers in the massive moments and he couldn't deliver. Playing ok in a league game won't make up for that unfortunately.

Onana shouldnt be treated with respect he thinks hes miles better than he is

If ramos does that its fine hes won the lot multiple times what resson does onana have to be cocky hes not even that good

Cash in and get more jimmy garners

If Ramos does that, in that situation he would be rightly criticised. There is no reason at all to be 'cocky', there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance but at the end of the day the technique stays the same. You have to score, if he had successfully given the keeper the eyes then nothing will be said. It was a really bad penalty but we move on, he has talent and hopefully he gets better and continues with his form during the 90 minutes. The next penalty shoot out, could be years from now, he doesn't take one.

The important thing now is that this does not affect him as a player in league games.

How is any of that the same thing?

We didn't play well and find the winning goal, but put ourselves in a position to go to our first semi final in what 10 years? But onanas ego stopped that.

People have a right to feel angry and confused about that penalty, ultimately we'll forget it and move on but let's not put yhe blame on others when if he just took a normal penalty we'd be sitting here celebrating now.

Both times I've seen Fulham play they've got away with stonewall red cards.
