2023/24 Amadou Onana

Hes about 5 years off his peak.

If he joins a good club, with good solid coaching, hes got the talent and the physicality to get to the very top IMO, as long as he wants it.

His hunger and desire will determine his career.

From an Everton POV I will wish him the best of luck with the rest of his career and hope we can invest the money wisely.

I dont think we miss the input hes provided in an Everton shirt, that is not to say hes a bad player, hes had some very good moments and games for us.

A team of 11 Onana reminds me of Italy in Euro.

I still really like Onana, just needs to grow into a dominator and be paired with the right mix around him. Just not sure we can afford to wait for it all to click for him

The links remain with the player for Barca but I saw his issues with managing possessions from the back, ponderous and slow in decision making and lacking discretion often telegraphing his intention. Stats alone, you’d walk away impressed but doesn’t pass the eye test for me

His recoveries & intensity are positives I like but I would prefer Merino

Don't worry mate, you can't afford him!

I've said it before i won't be crying if he goes elsewhere. Flatters to deceive as the stats show cos he was anything but a one man army in that match. I would have used the word tidy covering the fact he hardly ever went forward with the ball apart from the odd occasion and did loads of passes back and sideways a Belgian version of Ray Wilkins but not quite as good.

People need to remember those stats are with players who are decent around him, in our midfield there is not the same quality.
He is a decent player, who will grow to be an excellent player, still only 21

Personally..... Would rather keep him. I like him and think he will only get better!

Of course if someone comes in for him at EUR 50m+ and he wants to leave (typical Belgian interviews), then so be it.

But I would love us to be building a team round him and Branthwaite!
