You would assume he’s getting a pay rise along with the move, which considering he was rumoured to be on around £100k per week with us (reportedly a reason WHU backed off originally) that’s quite the outlay from Villa.

Oh we are successful completely restructuring our wage structure through natural attrition and selling.

Think on big contracts now besides for Pickford (who deserves it) everyone else on over 70k is in the last year of their contracts

No hard feelings, but really didn't deliver anything of note here.
Provided we can get a few players in, his departure should result in us being stronger.

I'm just not sure what the hype abut him is. He had a solid enough Euros, but I noticed even the TV pundits where I was watching questioned what it was he actually did.

For a guy with his attributes, I thought we were getting a much more dynamic player. Maybe he will do better in a stronger side, but I just get the impression that he is coasting and doesn't particularly care all that much.

All the best to Amadou Onana. He gave it a go with us, but it just didn't seem to work out.

Cake.webp

You know hes going to be brilliant for Villa and you'll all be crying next season when we have Ashley Young playing central midfield.
Also Villa have shown they're no mugs in the transfer market and are going to be playing Champions league football.

Maybe not the right player for us at the moment but before we all start doing reach rounds on each other lets pray they get some decent talent in that central midfield as we are VERY light there now.

Wish him the best. Hopefully he turns into a world beater. Seemed like a good professional. I wonder how much the initial impression of "Cannot wait to turn a profit on this lad" affected the overall mood of the fans towards him.
This is the danger in jumping on the 'modern football, buy players to develop and profit on' basis.

From the minute they arrive people are looking at them as an asset instead of a footballer.
I want us to buy players who are going to play for us for years, unless they aren't good enough.
Obviously every club has to sell players depending on the situation (player asking for move, money to good to turn down) but i don't like the idea of being 'patted on the head' for selling a good player.

His time here consisted of always promising that he'd suddenly kick on, last Gabe for us the improvement over his furst month or so was pretty minimal. Making close to a 20m profit has been a very good deal.

He has a serious risk of ageing soon out of the decent but with the 'potential to be world class' into simply the no this is what he is - decent category.

Even as he is now he'll add a lot to the villa side, team with the worst % of serial disks won just bought the top midfielder in that category in the league last season.

Would have been gutted if Garner left, with Onana it's more a ho hum wish the lad good luck.

Sure, get the central midfield talent in but can we then do the reach arounds?
