All this "poor Son" nonsense is laughable.

He purposefully went lunging into a challenge which could only result in him getting the man. It wasn't the worst tackle I've ever seen by any means. But when you deliberately go after the man and not the ball, you don't deserve any sympathy. There are plenty of other ways to do a cynical foul without a wild lunge. He deserves his ban 100% and there are some clueless shouts going around.
I bet that when he returns he’ll get clapped by the same tits who clapped Naismith scoring against us.

I’ll never forget that. Such a soft arse club.

It was clear Son never meant to injure Gomes, however, if you leave your feet and take the mans legs from behind knowing full well you aren’t getting the ball, then it’s a reckless challenge.

Everybody seems to be defending Sons character, which isn’t even being questioned to start with.

But let’s call the challenge for what it is.

I don’t have any sympathy for Son, the point I’m trying to make is if that tackle is deemed a red card, forget about the injury then the game is done!! Any shoulder barge, coming together 50/50 tackle can result in serious injury.

The entire point is that we don't forget about the injury. Why are you having such trouble grasping this?

It was a yellow card, then upped to a red when the referee saw the injury. That's the rule, as many other people have already pointed out. If your foul causes a serious injury to an opponent, it's a red card.

It’s not son character but he has gone in to hurt him. He was pissed from the Gomes challenge which he got caught in the face. That tackle was to get Gomes back he honestly didn’t mean to break his ankle but the red card is correct to. We have all done before when we play you leave your foot in on someone who has got you. That’s why he was crying for me because he knew he made a bad mistake in the heat of the moment.

this pretty much

also in my opinion, the reason son was crying like he was for me is because he knew it was his fault, he's got a little cob on when gomes slapped him and lunged in. again doesn't matter that he didn't mean to cause that injury there was intention to foul gomes because of what gomes had just done

sick of hearing about how son has been hard done by with the card, who's arsed abar him missing 3 games when gomes is gonna miss a year

At first, I didn't think it was a red. After seeing a replay Son has gone in to do Gomes.

It's not 'disgusting' and I do feel sorry in the sense that I'm sure he's devastated. But it was an awful tackle and worthy of a red.

Son made a reckless lunge to get the man, foot was up showing studs. Red card correct it was endangering another play.

Broken ankle, operation today. Do not expect to see him play now this season, a broken ankle is a right sod of an injury, will take time to heal.

That's not the rule. Players get injured every week, what is deemed a 'serious' injury and what isn't?

It will be interesting to see if they rescind the red, there's no way that it was a red card tackle. It's a bad tackle and it's certainly a yellow card.

It's one of those that players make to stop attacks on the half way, but it's ended really awfully for Andre.

For those saying 'Son has gone to do him there', how can you possibly know that?!

Looking at his reaction, he doesn't seem the type of bloke to do that deliberately to a fellow professional.

It is the rule. Theyve literally had it plastered over the media all morning. No chance they are rescinding it, what kind of message would that send to players?

They already circled the wagons before the final whistle. No way will it get overturned.

And it doesn't really matter, does it?

It doesn't really matter to us, no. But it's still an interesting point of discussion.

It doesn't make the concern and sadness for Andre any less to discuss what the repercussions may or may not be for Son.

Would Spurs have to appeal it before it could be rescinded? I'd imagine if that is the case they would just decide it isn't worth it under the circumstances.

......that you can still make a tackle and, if a player gets hurt, then that is an occupational hazard and the reason we have insurance and the best medical staff around Football.

It's exactly what Coleman has said to gone to Son for after the game. It wasn't his fault, he shouldn't feel bad. It's the unfortunate nature of the sport. Class act, Seamus.
