I've always had time for spurs as a club. Decent supporters and play good football.

But I've lost a lot of respect for them over the last 24 hours. The fact they are going to appeal is utterly pathetic and they should be ashamed. They've somehow managed to portray themselves as the victims in this despite breaking a players ankle.

Least you'd expect is them to be gracious and accept the 3 game ban and draw a line under it. They need called out but I don't think that's very likely.

They´re having a horrible season themselves and Son is arguably their best player bar Kane. Of course they´ll want him to play. There´s tens of millions of pounds at stake.

If it was a stonewall red card then yes, but it wasn't.

Son's tackle is a yellow card, but I actually think Aurier should have got the red card. It was his tackle, along with Gomes's foot posture, that caused the injury. Aurier's tackle is reckless, and hits Gomes in the ankle. It was perhaps the extra force needed to break the ankle.

To be honest, it was just a freak accident. Son's tackle wasn't a sending-off offence. If anyone should have been sent off it was Aurier because it was him who did the damage.

That's not the rule. Players get injured every week, what is deemed a 'serious' injury and what isn't?

It will be interesting to see if they rescind the red, there's no way that it was a red card tackle. It's a bad tackle and it's certainly a yellow card.

It's one of those that players make to stop attacks on the half way, but it's ended really awfully for Andre.

For those saying 'Son has gone to do him there', how can you possibly know that?!

Looking at his reaction, he doesn't seem the type of bloke to do that deliberately to a fellow professional.

No footballer intentionally goes out to break another players leg etc.

It is a red though because he has lunged and endangered the player regardless of anything else. It's reckless play. It's only 3 games anyway, I'm sure he will live.

On the same theme, in hindsight, when looking at Mina's fall that took Son's legs away, if Son hadn't acted swiftly and got his legs out of the way then he might have suffered an ankle injury himself. Whether he did it for that reason, or just to get a penalty, no one but Son will know. The irony of course is that he survived and ended up being complicit in Andre's horrific injury.

In very simple terms, it was a tackle from behind, they are not allowed, red is deserved.

From the BBC:

"Steve Woodhams: Whether Son deserved the red card or not is up for debate. In reality, being sent off did him a favour, as he surely wouldn't have been able to play on. Thoughts are with Gomez & hope he makes a full and swift recovery and also with Son & his psychological recovery."

Yeah, poor Son.

If the foul that caused this injury did not come two minutes after Gomes had left one on Son then maybe we would be able to look at it on face value and say okay it was a foul and an unfortunate injury occurred but that’s all it was. Because you can quite clearly see that Son was going in for revenge it leaves quite the bitter taste in my mouth

It was a horrible, snide, cowardly challenge. He didn't know that it was going to do what it did, but his sole intention was to hurt Gomes as retribution for a previous coming together. His reaction was undoubtedly in no small part due to the fact that he knew he'd been reckless, and that actually it wasn't 'one of those things' but rather a direct consequence of him being a petulant little beaut. Absolutely no sympathy for the bloke whatsoever.

Son didn't go into hurt him. Neither did Aurier.

Doesn't mean either player were in the right. Son's in particular was a bad tackle. You can make a bad tackle without the intent to hurt someone. I hate the extremity.

It's gutting. It's horrid. Gomes will be lucky to be back within a year.

It's all on the ref. Completely losing control of the game. Not giving simple decisions and VAR making it even more of a mess.
Everton should at least be allowed to make a case that Atkison is not allowed back to Goodison.
Another match like that from him and it could turn ugly.
Good to see Seamus step up and take some control, it was needed.

I think looking at the incident again - Son deserved a yellow, as it was a foul in retribution for the earlier incident. Unfortunately the foul knocked Andre off balance and also meant that Aurier's subsequent tackle was mistimed, resulting in the horror that followed.

so my verdict is yellow card for Son - and I don't hold Aurier at fault for what followed - he was already commited to the tackle but could not compensate for Andre being knocked off balance.

You have to put it in context here - it wasn't like the Roy Keane - Inge Haarland challenge. Keane should have been sent down for that as it was ABH.

I’ve been saying exactly this. Aurier knew he was lucky not to go
