2020/21 Anthony Gordon

Not very good. He's like a scouse Bernard, unfortunately. Still, he's plenty of time to improve.

Should be loaned out next season, because he isn't currently capable of offering anything to us either from the start or off the bench. Shouldn't be written off, but needs to do a lot of improving - and a loan spell can do him the world of good.
Last season he had a few games where he showed a lot of promise. You’re writing him off way too early.
I think there is something about him and a loan may really help him develop.

I think with Bernard staying he had to go out as they both play same position which is already taken by Richarlison. Hopefully we sell Bernard in the summer and Gordon comes back having played 15-20 games in the Championship.

He looked good in the League Cup against lower division sides.

I hope his loan goes well and he comes back to us improved by the experience.

This, basically. Hopefully it's as transformative as when Coleman went to Blackpool

Think it’s 6months overdue but better late than never, I’m glad he’ll be able to play every week and improve on his game now.

Bernard taking up a squad space and sending a promising younger player on loan is becoming a bit of a tradition.
Preston is a good move for him though, like Branthwaite to Blackburn.

Should King indeed come in, then I think we may still end up seeing Bernard leave if indeed the UAE's window does not shut just yet. We'll see, though think the likelihood is that Bernard leaves in the summer.

Speaking after putting pen to paper the England U20 international said: “I’m, so excited. Preston is a massive club; I’m delighted to be here. I know it was last minute, but I can’t wait to get going.

“I’ve heard a lot about the club. I’ve been told all about the family feel of this club and that was a massive part of why I chose to come here. I think that’s my main reason for being here, I really want to start games and be involved in men’s football consistently.

I think this is the perfect place for me at this moment with this manager, this team, and hopefully we can get to the play-offs

Whilst manager Alex Neil said he always expected it to be a late one, but was excited to have got his eighth signing of a busy window.

He added: “I think we always knew this was going to be a late deal. We spoke to Everton regarding Anthony and I spoke to Anthony himself as well.

“We needed to make sure we brought another attacking option in and I think Anthony, who has been involved in most of Everton’s games this season, has huge potential and he is different to the other type of lads we have as well.

“Anthony wants to take the ball, he wants to get at people, he wants to try and take them on and be creative in the final third. That type of player is what we have needed.”
