2020/21 Anthony Gordon

I’d have played him today, with Richarlison and James out. People are going way overboard here though. He looks a good prospect but he really hasn’t done anything - at all - to suggest he should definitely be In the side. I think it’s fair to say it’s a bit odd he didn’t get any game time, but people making out like it’s unfathomable are over the top.

I think it's the fact that he has pace, which nobody else playing for us had today.
 
After Iwobi and Bernard didnt make much of their chance last week, and Gordon i think seemed to do a little better in the time he had, i was expecting Gordon to start out the 3 today - so i was surprised to see none of the 3 start lol, and even more so about him not comming of the bench today- Gordon has so much to improve on but could have played a part today
 

I just don’t like to see this crap from player and manager. Both are in the wrong for me, but I understand Gordon’s perspective. He is a bit sensitive from what I’ve gathered and was probably feeling short of confidence from missing out on the bench for the first couple, so he went to talk to Carlo.

And I get why Carlo did what he did, but it gets to a point where you’ve made your point and it’s time to get over it. It’s just petty

He deserves another one soon but he has to take it. He cant keep coming on looking neat and tidy without offering any goal threat.

We have far too many ineffective technical players who only play football in the middle third.

I’d take neat and tidy without offering any goal threat over some of the tosh playing in front of him,,, he needs a run of games to feel part of the side and then he can add a goal threat,,

I really think this has been blown massively out of proportion. It’s pretty clear from what both of them have said that Gordon went and politely asked what he could do to force his way into the side and received an honest answer , there was no leak or anything, it was Ancelotti himself who - jokingly - said what had happened. He’s played him in cup games and picked him in the squad for league games since, there’s clearly no problem there and it’s pretty embarrassing the way some people have run with it.
 
I don't get why Carlo doesn't trust him and I'm quite frustrated by it now. He should be on loan if this is where he was in the pecking order. Terrible player development yet again from the club. Yes he can pick some stuff up in training but young players get better by playing matches against adults and not that u23 mess.

I think people try too hard to be ‘rational’ on here and forget that people are human. It’s very possible that it isn’t blown out of proportion at all. We don’t know. All I know is it doesn’t look good.
 

I think he must be shagging Carlo's daughter to not even be getting minutes. Does Carlo have a daughter? If not, he's probably shagging his son and that's why he's not playing.
 
Think people are reading too much into things. Carlo rates him he's said as much, Gordon's Everton career isn't on the line like the likes of Bernard, Iwobi and Casper the Icelandic ghost's all are. They're all playing currently because Ancelotti is giving them one final opportunity to prove they shouldn't be chopped, and all have failed for me.

Anthony I think will feature plenty in the second half of the season.

Mate, how many last chances do the deadwood get? or need, unless Ancelotti has turned into blind pugh or Mr Magoo how can he not see them for the shight they are.

Edit; *thinks*... doesn't say much for th.e U23s
 
Maybe he's just not ready for the first team? Davies made a few good cameos and everyone thought he looked great but the more exposure he got the clearer his limitations became and the thinner the fans' patience wore. For all we know Gordon could be holding on to the ball too long in training, finding himself out of position etc - working hard but making mistakes as all young players do - and Carlo therefore thinks he has talent but is protecting him as he knows he's not quite ready for the first team and an extended run could kill his confidence / development.
