What wouldn't happen?

Football club offloads player on loan who can't get a game?

Remember we loaned a certain Romelu Lukaku? Just as West Brom did?

I dont remember Chelsea only having 1 fit forward that season.

He had also started a match and scored twice this season. It wasn't like he was a complete squad player with no chance of minutes.

I dont remember any big team loaning out their sub forward meaning they only have 1 fit (Tosun was injured for another 6 weeks at that point).

It's not difficult - Moise Kean wanted to play. It's that simple.

He was stinking the place out whenever he got a bit part chance here, and couldn't get a kick for Everton.

Unless Calvert-Lewin is injured, or rested - he wasn't getting a game and evidently, he wasn't happy about that.

Just like Lookman, Deulofeu etc. And Lukaku getting off from Chelsea to go on loan to West Brom/Everton - it's not a football PC game, they are people you need to manage.

Ancelotti had two options, tell Kean to shut up, sit on the bench and wait or to let him go and play. The personality of the footballer will have a big part to say on that.

We made a decision that suited the player but hurt ourselves. If he wanted to leave then we shouldn't have even entertained an offer until the money we paid was on the table.

He signed a contract with us yet we allowed him to play for another club while incurring costs. Its one of the poorest deals we've ever done. Loaning players to a money team like PSG? I cant get over it

Time will tell.

Fans have short memories - his stock was plummeting here, he looked worse than Niasse ever did in his struggle against Salford City. He was going stale - even when we had players like Richarlison out he couldn't get a game.

We also don't know just how unhappy/unsettled he was.

I think that loan move is looking like the best loan out move Everton have done in a very long time. Especially as they've not allowed a set buy price. His stock is going the right way again, - I can't see him ever wanting to come back so at least there will be a few teams willing to pay a rate. If he does come back, he should have some confidence back in him.

I said at the time we needed another striker coming in, even before Kean went because we're done for if Calvert-Lewin gets an injury - but at the end of the day they have to be happy sat on the bench/competing with Lewin and that requires a certain type of personality/mindset.

Its the lack of replacement that makes it the issue yes. One injury and the squad is always in trouble. Been this way for years.

The player going out on loan should probably have been Gordon!

Not sure if same will happen with Gordon, but is a bit of a running theme the last 5 years or so that we seem to have *decent* prospects that get to a certain point aged 19-20 of being around the first team and then never progressing beyond that. Kenny, Dowell, Davies, Garbutt, Galloway, Baningime, Connolly even played for England u21. Club just seem incapable of progressing players beyond ever being prospects, only one really is Calvert Lewin and that’s took years of sticking with him to develop consistency. Barkley was a bit of a freak player who was close to the first team at 16 before he broke his leg

He's in a spot of both having the look of someone who could be quite good and also not really having shown much of it when actually playing. But ultimately he was 19 and it was 400 minutes in a bad side so it would be unfair to say he can't do it.

What I'm trying to say is I can see both sides. But what isn't disputable to me is that having him not playing football isn't the right move. I know the loan market has its pitfalls, but he should be on loan right now if he wasn't going to play here.

People love to say you can learn in training and they aren't completely wrong. However the nature of a football match is never truly replicated in training as it is a draining activity to the point that teams wouldn't get through the season playing practice matches anywhere like a real match. So players can't learn that part without being on the field and we need to arrange a way for Gordon to do that.

Helped save us from relegation along with fat Sam and Walcott.

I'm suggesting that the clamour for Gordon is based on nothing. He's had about 12 apps for Everton in total and looked decent against a lower league Salford. That's it

Is it though? I've seen nothing from Gordon that's worth the buzz so far

It feels like every thread is plagued with somebody complaining that Gordon isn't in the squad again etc. It's bizarre.

Because he hasn't shown anything to even suggest he'd be better than those. Idk what you want me to say, I just don't get the buzz and he certainly wouldn't change the reason we are currently 1-0 down

When he has played he's done nothing. Apart from a game vs Salford. Spends a few games out of the squad injured or something and a couple bad results = Gordon is the saviour

Yes, our only other available striker.

*gives up*
I've just realised Abraders is a DAvek multi....

I think January is important in this regard. I think him not playing much football at the moment is unfortunate but not massively detrimental, but if he's not in our plans for the second half of the season he needs to start getting games, either with the under 23s or on loan. To be fair to the club there were suggestions that they were looking for him to go out in the summer but he wanted to stay and try to work his way into the side. That's commendable on his part, but it may have backfired on him a bit.
