i mean there are plenty of young players who don't need time

how much time do you give him

does Haaland need time?

does Jude Bellingham need time?

anthony at man utd is only a year older than him

before you know it he will 29 years old and people will be saying he still needs more time
Mate, people are still advocating giving Tom Davies more time to fulfil his potential from 6 years ago when he was 17 ffs lol

Well, if I was Lampard, I'd take it as a backhanded compliment that I had a good engine and could sniff a goal, in comparison with Sigurdsson's God-given superior technique.

I doubt Lampard really care's mate.

Sigurdsson was very good at free kicks across his career though, unfortunately not many for us.

I think one of the main criticisms of him this season is that he isn't doing this a lot. Last year he sort of flattered to deceive in that he often looked really dangerous but then didn't actually produce the goods. This year he's often just not got into the game at all, with sunday probably the worst so far. It's a dip in form which is no big deal and understandable for a 21 year old winger, but unfortunately it's a dip from a not particularly high base and so it looks really bad. Coming off the back of what happened in the summer it was never going to be received particularly well either.

That would be the big question/concern I have for him really. Why can he not do aspects of the process that are very doable every week.

I'm not saying he should score every week, but against Leeds/Brentford he took up dangerous positions both in behind and in the space between their midfield and defence. The last 2 games, there was precious little of this.

Players will miss chances, but not getting chances and/or making the right movements is a bit of a concern.

as well as this, we're expecting Phil Foden out of him, when in reality a Seamus or even Leon Osman level would be a start - i.e. consistent, dependable, hard working - then let's see how he does with better players.
sorry to mention that lot, but there's interesting analysis in all of the stupid hype and fury about TAA and Salah - the fact that the system and tactics, and other players around them are not playing very well, or playing differently.
It's the same for every team - an individual can barely , rarely play well alone.

Yes all very true.

The thing with Foden is, at the same age as Gordon, he had never scored more than 9 league goals in a season. Conceivably Gordon could match that, in a much poorer team.

As for Gordon, if he gives us what Coleman and to a degree Osman gave us, that would be excellent. Both were/are fantastic servants. Just because a player isnt Rooney, doesnt mean they dont have a value.

Most yellow cards in the premier league and suspended for a game only 9 games into the season. I’d call that a joke for a CB or defensive midfielder, absolute disgrace and sign of a dreadful attitude from a winger.

Any forward who gets more cards than he does combined goals and assists is bad news at any level. Dunc despite his reputation finished his career with more goals and assists than cards, even Roy Keane, one of the most talked about hard man dirty player finished with roughly the same cards as G+A.

If Gordon continues on the way he’s going he’ll find it hard, he’s already got a reputation as a diver, which is well deserved by the way, the last thing he needs on top of being labelled a cheat is to be labelled a dog of a player too. Seriously needs to buck up his attitude.

He got booked on Sunday for what is a perfectly good tackle. Horrendous decision by the ref. If that is a yellow, we may as well just ban tackling.

VAR still allows dives to stand and dives outside the box aren't reviewed and still matter. If you don't dive you're choosing to be a worse player. That's the game.
What a load of absolute crap.

Any major decisions in game would be changed if it's a dive.

Ie any goal/pen disallowed
Any second yellows/straight reds for foul on a diver overturned with VAR

I'm pretty sure if someone dived outside the box and a free kick was given/scored they would look at that as well?

I hate VAR but one thing it has done is clean up the mess with divers.

I agree with everything you've said except the penultimate paragraph. If , for instance , a goal is scored from an incorrecetly given corner then it would still stand.

Nope

Second yellows aren't reviewed either.
