Antolin Alcaraz

He doesnt need to be fast, he is a very good reader of the game.

This.

David Weir next had pace, but he developed a very intelligent read of the game and thats why he could play for so long at a decent level. If you can read the game, you don't need pace. Like Pirlo, can read the game and has technical ability, doesn't need anything else.

Alcaraz has had one game.

Kones has started one game.

The same people saying don't judge Kone are already judging Alcaraz.

This is hypocritical.

I've pointed out this hypocrisy.

I'm quite happy to judge on what I've seen

Alcaraz looks decent

Kone looks crap

Is that broken down and simplified enough for you?

Which people ?

Or they watched him stink out the League for Wigan last Season.

/waits wittty comeback regarding the goals he scored against teams from the lower reaches of hell, then waits for WHAT ABAR THE GOALS HE SCORED VERSUS US

Sits and laughs at these people.

Study the 1 they call Leighton Baines and contrast him against the 1 they call Jose Enrique, only then are you ready for the next step.

Dont you have rapists to sign?

Fairly sure I havent seen this player play a single game, EVER, so I have no viewpoint on him yet, other than injury prone.

Didnt think we could judge players on pre-season, thought that was the rules.

Has he retired yet?

You are another one.

He's not going to get any quicker with game-time; what you see is what you get. As has been said before about Alcarez, he's a CB who's comfortable as the right sided player in a three man defence.

I dont think we'll see too much of that once Jagileka's back (and it'll cause too much disruption in a season going well), but I bet Martinez is itching to introduce it next pre-season and have it as a formation he can turn to with everyone comfortable with it.
