Antolin Alcaraz

....they are all on big bucks, don't worry about the wages because whoever comes in will be on at least as much. I think he's got a bit of quality and he'll do for me as back up.

AS much as I don't rate the guy I wouldn't put us not getting CL all on his shoulders he only played a few games, granted not the best but we dropped plenty of points with him not in the side as well.

....just looking at this now and agree. I'm a big Jagielka fan, but he was certainly 'rusty' against City and I don't think it helped Stones or Alcaraz.

He's been tragic in every game he has played in and in my opinion, he is the reason we did not achieve champions league qualification.

We need rid of him next season! all agree?

Now that is a big statement, and not a very good one either. In my opinion of course

I quite like old Antolin. Baring in mind he's our 4th choice defender, we can't be expecting too much. I'd keep him around for another season and try and blood Browning in (that is assuming that Martinez sees nothing in Duffy, which I suspect is the case) for the season after next. Similar thing with Barry and Lundstram/Ledson.

Yeah two bad games, he has only played two games!! Gifted them the derby and scored a blinder in his own net on the south coast which if you can't remember, pretty much guaranteed us no CL. We need a better standard of player than him so you get a grip and stop praising anyone who can kick a ball lad!

To right mate, tell you what, we should get rid of that Coleman too, he scored an own against Southampton and what about anfield, Alcatraz pretending to be Barry and losing the ball on the halfway line whilst pretending to be john stone's caught up field, oh oh what about when he pretended to be jags and passed the ball to Suarez. His half a dozen games did cost us CL footy in our 38 game season.

Thought Alcaraz was very good when he came in against Southampton at Goodison and Stoke at the Britannia. The Derby was a weird one, neither Alcaraz or Jagielka were fully fit so ive kind of let him off with that one. Bar the own goal against Southampton he werent too bad, obviously people think of the own goal meaning gash game, but he werent too bad after it and City, he was meh to say the least. This 'JakeCOYB' saying he cost us fourth place? How can a player who has played 6 games have cost us Champions League? Log out lad, you're embarrassing yourself.

He was free, obviously not counting wages. It's kinda sad he spent most of the season injured, but as far as mistakes in the transfer market go (and I don't think we've seen enough to definitely put him in that category) it wasn't a big one.

There isn't any need to start getting offensive, at the end of the day, this forum is for people to convey their opinions and i have done exactly that.

Hopefully Alcaraz and Kone were just 1 season stopgaps- I'm hoping we can get rid in the summer doubt it though

Alcaraz you would hope so and you can kind of see why bobby brought him in given our style was gonna be changing and he'd have no idea how jags and Distin were gonna fair. Kone I still think will be usefull. I'd go as far as saying his injury was probably one of the biggest factors in us missing 4th.

We need a better and more reliable option than alcaraz next season. However if he's not costing us much (wages) I'm not fussed if bobby keeps him another year (as long as we sign someone too) with Europe I'm sure combined with cup games there will be 10 games for someone like him (the right games)

Would have preferred to have seen some youth given a go as the 4th centre back instead of Alcaraz.

We already have given youth a go with stones who I reckon will push distin onto the bench next season. Alcaraz isn't a bad player at all. Centre backs are very much like goalkeepers in my opinion. They need a run of games consistently to play to their full potential in most cases. See exhibit a) demichelis.
