He's got his limitations like, don't really see the point in sacking him though unless you can convince a proper elite level coach to come in for the long term.

You know that expected goals stat that they use nowadays. I reckon if you had an "expected result" score for the last few tournaments, you'd have England turning up exactly where they did. It's the equivalent of reaching the FA Cup final having beaten a bunch of Championship sides and thinking you're the dog's nuts.

It's a fair criticism, but I guess compared with the 00s teams, who on paper should have went further than they did, this team actually did get there.

I dunno man, I'd just need to know who they would realistically have in mind to replace him before I could say whether or not it's the right call.
 
The Southgate PR machine is out in force today, media gone into overdrive trying to turn public opinion around and make everyone believe he should stay on. Never seen propaganda like it really, it’s intense.
 
I think Southgate would make a great second in command to a decent tactically astute manager. He offers calm and cohesion to the players which is invaluable - it just needs someone with nous masterminding how we play.

My summary

Group games : he’s a crap manager, so negative, get him out

Next round : so negative and boring, should sack him mid tournament

Next round : OMG… he’s so poor and negative, like watching paint dry…. Get rid of him now

Semi final : Fair play to him, his approach whilst not eyecatching is very pragmatic and he deserves all of our respect, what manager could do a better job than him ? Second final in a row, a World Cup semi, he’s probably the best manager in the world but just a bit quiet … let’s all get behind him and give him a knighthood when he gets home.

Final : absolute disgrace this fella, he needs to dragged outside and [Poor language removed] in front of his family, how dare he make me feel like this , how dare he lose … get rid now

Thank God. I got Lee Carsley at 18/1 last week. Ignore the media hype for Potter and Howe.

Carsley won the Euros with the under 21s last year.
