The people (the supporters) that have been tainted with this half-assed allegation have their right to reply. Like the vast vast vast majority of instances surrounding the club they are fair game to be lampooned, if you want a serious and professional conversation lets see the leaders of Everton football club lead by example.

Until then, DBB and everyone else will continue to be a victim of this circus.
Maybe both the fans and DBB should be upset at this info being leaked when it did as it both parties are being abused for it. And one of those parties is abusing the other.

There’s a potential female victim of assault in this. It’s not hard to just hold off on that and condemn the timing and possible intention of the leak without smearing the alleged female victim, in my book anyway.

They are a pack of snivelling liars. To throw the fanbase as a collective under the bus hours before our most important game of the season was beyond the pale. Their incompetence has been there for all to see but I never thought that they were capable of this level of maliciousness against supposedly their fellow Evertonian but clearly I was wrong.

I just cannot comprehend the level of narcissism it takes from individuals like these to see a mass tidal wave of resentment against them, which is completely justified using evidence concerning our governance and on-pitch performance which shows an organisation that is failing on every level, to not accept any responsibility.

It's absolutely sickening levels of self-protectionism that they refuse to stand down.

Said previously, I think something happened. Maybe it’s been exaggerated, maybe not . I don’t believe they are that deluded in leaving themselves so open to such a degree of lying if they want to remain on the board.

It must be said that the timing of it coming out is questionable and strategic . Clearly designed to character assassinate Evertonians on the day of a protest. Instead of coming out proving why they should remain as custodians of the club, they choose these tactics, which shows things need to change and they are not the right people for Everton.

100%.

The leaping straight to 'LIE' by so many has left me cold. Disappointed how many are ready to reject the idea of a woman being assaulted entirely out of hand, just because they think she's not good at her job.

If, in the cold light of day, this gets shown to be a fabrication, what then? The rumoured victim (it was not called out in the club statement) can easily clarify if/when/by whom this happened or not as may be the case. If the latter, the individual who published the release can be asked who provided them the draft? Work back to that person and request they clarify which member of the BOD (for it can only be one of that grouping) instructed them to do so and provided the textual/verbal basis for the release to be drafted in the first place.

To the extent the police were brought into this (if at all officially as yet), there could well be grounds for a wasting police time enquiry. For closure, this path needs to be pursued with rigour. Anyone found to have been creative with facts at the outset of this will find their position(s) untenable.

It's absolutely fair that people are sceptical too though. It is a serious allegation, the timing is strange, and it was leaked rather than through official statements.

Where allegations are made, then evidence should be provided. That's how it works.

The club should be providing clarity on the issue, because if there is proof, then any culprit should obviously be punished. But until evidence is provided, or official comment is made, then I am sceptical because the alleged incident supposedly took place in a full stadium and was not reported for 11 days.

I'm not defending the board and their crap footballing decisions. I'm just saying from a business perspective I can easily understand how they'd want to downplay it. They clearly haven't been doing their jobs properly let alone keeping a good relationship with their stakeholders.
Then why even announce it or make a statement?
It makes no sense other than to turn the media and other fans against the protestors!
If its true, then so be it but you dont put this out there without substantiating it!
oh wait its BK and you know, "watch this space" and all that jazz

As a fan I’m repulsed that the club can smear our name without providing evidence or corroborating the story.
Until that occurs this can only be seen as deflection tactic - choosing the only female member of the board to heighten the outrage.

Aye fair. Easy to separate the two though isn’t it, the timing of the leak being nefarious to smear fans but being concerned a female has been allegedly assaulted.

There's a difference between scepticism and calling it a lie, which I've seen plenty of.

You're a clown. You started this by saying Everton were lying and playing a song for all the conspiracy theorists out there. In your comical world its you that needs to supply evidence of your allegation.

Charlie, throwing insults around isnt going to change anything. As a point of order, I havent said they are lying, I've asked for evidence to substantiate their version of events (which may be true).

So without the needless insults, can you please provide evidence for DBB being put in a headlock, by a supporter, after the Brighton game, which you tell us definitely happened.

If it definitely happened as you allege, you will be able to substantiate this, without feeling the need to resorting to childish insults and misrepresentations of what the other person is saying.

Have a go, see if you can manage it at the 3rd attempt.

I’m not convinced it’s come from the club, it’s the whole ‘headlock’ supposed quote, it would have said physical assault. Think the leak is bollocks and obviously the incident.

Fair

I will say I am certainly sceptical, and my scepticism will grow the longer we go without further info or official comment.

Bemused is probably another word I'd use to describe how I feel about the situation. No sensible Everton fan would ever condone an assault inside the ground for a start, we would want action to be taken if this incident happenned.
