Appeal for witnesses...

It's quite ironic that sitting in front of me on Saturday was ex Everton defender Dave Jones, a decent man falsely accused by 3 boys of being a pedophile.
He was sacked by Southampton immediately, but the accuses later withdrew their allegations & admitted they had made the story up , too late for Dave branded for life & without a job
This is what LIES can do,yet OUR CLUBS BOARD had no hesitation in giving the PRESS a false story ,which the implications for the future we have yet to see.
They should NEVER come anywhere near a match EVER AGAIN

Good bloke Dave. Good manager and all.

And if the victim didn’t press charges and wanted it downplayed? She’d be as unhappy as the fans by the leak.

I agree. But that's why we need some clarity here.

Just a couple of things to say mate:
Firstly nothing has actually come from the alleged victim has it? If DBB has stated that she has been assaulted, that would be enough. But at present we have a leak, from I dont know who.

I could say that Arianna Grande has been assaulted. But that doesnt make it true and it shouldnt be treated with the same valour as an incident reported by a victim. I'm fully on board with supporting victims, but that is different from supporting an unnamed person, who's gender us unknown who has made a statement.

2) The second is more thorny, and one which causes a lot of discussion with my partner (who's a researcher in the VAWG sector) which is there are other considerations, other than the victim. It is important the victim is at the heart of any investigative process, but there are other stakeholders here. This is especially so with a football club, who has a standing in the community. So we need to get to the bottom of it.

It would be like if someone had racially abused someone. I'd fully understand if the victim didnt want it pursued further, but that's not the only concern. That person shouldnt be allowed back at the ground. There ought to be a consequence.

So for me, we need to get to the bottom of this.

As I think I mentioned earlier, there was an NUT rep who was accused of this, for campaigning against the Free School. The club acknowledged no wrongdoing had happened. Thank goodness we didnt just accept the version of events as automatically the truth.

Mate; where in the media.was Vieira made out to be a “justified Saint” and where was the lad made out to be “vermin”?

The Viera incident is the exact opposite of this, and the lad in question was roundly condemned. He was an utter knobhead, and I felt ashamed at what he did. So I'm not uncritically supportive of fans, but people are entitled to ask for evidence.

FWIW I think Everton got off very easily about the behaviour from that night.

Do you think if the lad ( of course it was wrong what he done , he shouldn't even be on the pitch ) had booted Vierra to the ground the outcome would have been the same.

@catcherintherye @blulouie
The difference between the two incidents at the moment seems to be that the altercation between the lad and Vieira was witnessed by thousands and this “headlock” business seems to have been witnessed by no one.
I appreciate people will have different (and some strong) views on the Vieira incident but I do not recall the media polarising the protagonists in the manner suggested.

It's just not the same though is it?

If you go to someone work place, trespass and hurl abuse at them, the context of you booting them is going to be different to them booting you isnt it?

Yes totally different incidents.
My point was the club (EFC) not taking issue with a nationally seen physical assault , in the stadium irrespectful of who it was.
Yet they ( club source ) have briefed the media for an incident in the directors box without any witnesses or video footage .

You will find the vast majority of Evertonians condem any sort of violence at or near football grounds.

What we will not tolerate is the club using / not using incidents like these to suit there narrative whenever they want to deflect blame for the mess they have created here.

I think the takeout from the Viera incident, is that anything, however innocuous is almost certainly picked up these days. A headlock of a CEO of a business would be picked up.
