Appeal for witnesses...

Have you ever thought people rejected it out of hand, because there is no record of it by the police? You know, the people who would be present to witness this alleged incident? Just a thought like.

Maybe the police are lying though?
I mean, it's not like football grounds are not filled with police and stewards as well. You do not get to just walk up to a senior exec, especially a female one, and assault them.

Now yes, DBB may not want to press charges, but that would not prevent it being witnessed.
That's the way I see it too. The skeptical reaction among fans has nothing to do with her being a woman and everything to do with the wildly provocative timing of the release of this statement from the club (right before a match where there was a very public protest planned) and the way in which information has been released (disseminated through a media that could be expected to just lap it up and be willingly complicit in smearing the fans if only for the drama of it).

The first thing that came to mind when I heard the headlock stuff was that there was just no way on earth that could happen in a public stadium just after a game - meaning lots of people still around, the vast majority with phone cameras. And with that many witnesses, not a chance that there's no peep of it at all until almost two weeks later. I mean, come on?

That just tells me that police weren’t involved and some resistance on DBB’s behalf to involve them mate. They could be lying too obviously.

The police could be lying. I think this is why the club need to make a statement though.

As for DBB I can see that, but that wouldnt stop an arrest being made. It's a bit like Ramsdale yesterday, they wont stop him to ask his view, they will just arrest the guy in question. So any potential reticence, would not have any impact at that stage, (though it could impact likelihood to charge).

What reason would the police have to lie? I can give you a reason as to why the club would lie.

It’s be hugely surprised if they even looked into it if DBB didn’t report it mate.

I’m not sure they’d be too keen investigating some version of a headlock if it hadn’t been reported though mate?

Of course they would mate, it's an assault. And there are clearly heightened tensions at the present moment in time, with DBB a high profile figure.

A bloke is not getting away with going into a semi-closed off area, and assaulting a senior female executive. Not a chance.

(Like obviously don't do this) but if you went and put a random woman in a headlock against her will at the match, you're getting ejected and its getting noted down. They have CCTV all over stadiums. And that's a random woman, not the CEO of the business.

Theres not a chance that gets ignored. He could have had a knife or anything. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but he could have killed her from that position.

Fair enough, I disagree they would mate but each to their own. Im often wrong!

Wouldn’t they have to he respectful of the employee’s decision to report or not? That’s how it usually works in the workplace.
If other employees were aware of a case of physical assault and also did not report that to authorities then that is a failure on their part also. I'd argue they have a duty towards the safety of others to report what they know. Same as another workplace hazard that could endanger employees and customers.

Somebody has been aware of the allegations in order to share them with journos but according to Merseyside police nobody reported it to them.

No. Example.

If one fan attacked another, it would be reported by the club - they wouldn't wait for the fan to file a report.

Though I would like to see the police wading into the crowd to ask fans if the below hit them, and if they'll press charges before they make a report;
