Confirmed Signing Armando Broja

I very very much doubt that Tuchal has made decesions about Broja or indeed Gallagher leaving permanently however I would t be at all suprised if Broja has one more season on loan and then his progress to be measured.
Broja is just one year into a five year deal so almost certainly his pathway will have been discussed at length prior to his loan last season .
All of that goes out the window if someone makes a silly offer but as we have seen with most of the academy players sold on whilst under decent length contracts it would have to be a stupid offer and no doubt Chelsea would want a buy back option which many clubs just won’t agree to
The further along we go in the summer, the more convinced I am that we'll get one of your lot on a straight loan for the season. Which I'm typically opposed to if there's no option, but it does not appear like we can be picky. Would rather be in the situation Palace are in with Guehi than Gallagher, but can't argue that both were hugely influential in them having a positive season.

If Tuchel wants to send Gallagher, Broja or Colwill on loan again but is hesitant to sell, I actually think we would be a great option. We've done okay against Chelsea in the last couple of years, but the loan player wouldn't play in those matchups, and they are just so far ahead of us that it's not a competition issue. There's something to be said to having players take on a new challenge rather than go back to where they were last season.

I just don't want any of Barkley, CHO, Sarr on loan please.

At some point though mate, those lads want to play week in week out. Or they end up like Barkley/RLC/Drinkwater etc.

You could argue the same about about squad players and indeed academy products at yours and indeed most clubs players that is who haven’t been playing regularly.

Broja isn’t 23 he is 20 and still very very raw. He wasn’t close to a guaranteed starter at Saints and to be honest he won’t be at Chelsea next season if he stays he probably would be on the bench for quite a lot of PL & CL games but would start in say the EFL and FA Cups.

But teams can use 5 subs next season and that may well change managers thinking starting 11 wise particulary before and after or before CL games.TT may well be more inclined to start weaker if you like and if it doesn’t work out having 5 subs affords you to make changes far earlier.

That's true, it affects all clubs mate. But there does come a point for players where they want to be first choices. 20 isnt that young. They will want to avoid the mistakes of the likes of RLC, who took the easy option of sitting on the bench and letting their career pass them by.

Don't think either are ready to be starters for you mate

Gallacher it's hard to see where he'd play starting especially if as likely you buy a cm or two. Broja isn't at the level yet to start.

But both showed with their massive drop off last season they're not at the top level 'yet'

Still think we'll snag Gallacher on a loan like or sone weirdly structured sale which allows us to have him cheap but you to buy him back in a couple of seasons similarly cheap

Ultimately the way Chelsea work assuming it doesn't change under the new guys, if both players want to have a starting role Chelsea will move them on.

How many 20 year olds are regular starters in the PL?

Half a dozen at most , probably not even that many even Gordon is older

I think most players, at 20/21 will want to be starting regularly in the PL mate. Gordon was starting regularly as a 20 year old. He really needs to be starting or he risks becoming another RLC IMO.

Wasn’t Gordon playing in the Championship at 20 ?

RLC had a terrible injury (ACL) so no surprise his progress stalled.

But back to my point irrespective of wanting to be rgu starters how many at 20 achieve that ? Very very few

Well Gordon was starting games pretty regularly for Everton at 20 last season.

Broja is 21 in early September. He really needs to be starting games every week.

And ACL injury or not, RLC has wasted his career away, preferring to go between loans, and being a bench player, rather than prioritising playing first team football. At nearly 21, you need to be playing every week as a starter. It's as simple as that really mate.

Isn't the issue with him that he's on something like £170k a week, which prices him out of going anywhere he'd actually get a game?

Chelsea will definitely want to sell Broja as he's massively overvalued at the moment. Had a good 3 month period and then was awful for half a season. Highly doubt he'll score 5 or more in a top European division in one season ever again.
