Confirmed Signing Armando Broja

I think keeping him away from them niggly injuries is key...your also looking for him to bag early.

Before all the Body language Nazis jump on me, he looks like a confidence player...to coin a phrase.
Well maybe Dyche has got the answer to that after all his experiments to keep DCL fit. He certainly won’t play until he is ‘Dyche fit’ so I hope Chelsea are prepared to cover his wages until at least January 🥴

It's an interesting clause isn't it? You would think that Chelsea have agreed to pay his wages according to 'expected' return date. (i.e for 5 or 6 weeks)
Surely they wouldn't expect to continue paying if he has a set back and is out for longer than expected?

I'm OK with this signing purely because we have obviously been after him for a while. Almost like there is some sort of plan for him.
There was always chatter even when he was linked with other clubs.
Looks like Thelwell bided his time and got his man on good terms.

Don't see it as a panic last minute signing as it looks like we've wanted him for a good few years.
Is he good enough ?
Think we should give him the chance to show us.

Maupay out ....Broja in
No argument there from me.

Someone said earlier (may have been you) that he's deceptively quick. I agree.

I can see him getting people out of their seats when he plays.
Yeah is why the Arnautovic is a good shout by neiler, can see the similaities. Hopefully with him being a forward will mean he will come inside more to join the cf cutting in if we can get crosses into the box to use his height advantage on the fb.

I think it is great business from Thelwell again.
A loan , an option to buy and no wages paid until the player is fit.
If he does well then we have a striker at an affordable price, if not he goes back to Chelsea.

I rarely take notice of the opinions of fans from other clubs regarding players we buy or loan.
To be honest I don't take any notice either of opinions on players in this forum apart from a few posters who are knowledgeable and balanced in their opinions.

Broja is still a very young striker who has had a difficult time with injuries.
He is still developing as a player and I think we have struck a very good deal for him.

we’ve signed an injured player

when we have one now who’s injured a lot

it’s panic

It’s a weird one, the timing and the way we went about it screams panic, but at the same time this is a lad we’ve been targeting (rightly or wrongly) for years now, heavily linked every window and apparently top of the striker list (again, rightly or wrongly). So it’s not some rando we’ve picked up in desperation, he was our top target all along.

So I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it’s more opportunism than panic- we’ve got him in the door for a look on very favourable terms.

Aye mate, I probably should have worded it better. Not a panic buy as in an unknown quantity type, just more to do with the timing of it, him being injured etc.

I guess it could be seen as a too good to miss chance to get the lad in, I guess we'll see.

To have the window close and not address the complete lack of pace, I find it difficult to give anyone at Everton any credit.

No idea how anyone can be happy with this. A striker who scores a lot less than Dom (which takes some doing) and nobody else would sign due to him failing a medical and being injured till at least October. It is a dreadful signing regardless of cost. Proper Everton signing actually.

So, can this guy play on the wing? Maybe that's why we got him, didn't he play on the wing for Southampton?

Maybe I'm wrong, I'm genuinely not sure
