Arouna Kone

See this is basically the point I've been making, in your eyes he's failed and you've basically accused him of only playing well for a contract which isn't true. Its a drop in form, every player goes through it whether they are a fit and healthy 18 year old just starting the game or a 30+ year old with a history of injury problems

A bit like his 1 goal in 40 games 'drop in form' for Sevilla.

As I've said, I'm sure it is all a remarkable coincidence that his downturn in application and output all happened after he got a new contract. Desperately unlucky really.

Cleverley isn't actually as bad as I thought he'd be. Definitely a decent SQUAD option. Shouldn't be starting games.

Kone, on the other hand, is just past bad. He wouldn't get in any other side in the entire league.

Desperately hope we can sell in the summer, any amount of money would do.

It's a shame that Lukaku will inevitably follow him out of the door too, leaving the unknown Niasse as our only striker.

Great site lads.

I'm just clinging on to the fact that his new contract keeps his value 'high' - we might get 75p for him now as opposed to a Curly Wurly and a pack of Space Raiders before.

This morning already @butters is that Kone puts in effort and Cleverley will likely be a target for Guardiola at City.

Mad times we live in

Bloody hell you love your stats don't you? That Sevilla stat always gets thrown at him, he had bad form at one club, like most players. Doesn't make him a bad player, doesn't make him a good player, I'd say an average hit or miss player is a more accurate description. At small clubs with less pressure he's a hit, at a club like us where he's coming off injuries then he's edging, if he fails to add to his goal tally in the last dozen plus games this season then by all means he will be a miss

I do wonder though if he had not got that injury if things would have gone differently for him?

Phenomenal management by Martinez if true.

We shouldn't forget that this over-achieving squad contains Gareth player-of-his-generation Barry, Ross England's-diamond Barkley, John wouldn't-sell-him-for-all-the-money-in-the-world Stones, the best full back pairing in the division over the past five seasons, Baines and Stones, Romelu I-know-how-good-I-am-even-if-I-can't-perform-against-WBA Lukaku, and other superstars such as Deulofeu, McCarthy, 13m Niasse, Belgian international Mirallas, 10m Argentine Mori and other random players. No wonder Martinez has the safest job in the league the miracles he's performing.

I genuinely don't think any other manager in the world could have, with this squad, achieved four home defeats against Leicester, Stoke, Swansea and West Brom. Seems impossible, yet our Roberto has done it.

Ye takes some doing.

Where are people getting he is a hit at smaller clubs?!?

Wigan - set up to attack because they sure as hell couldn't defend - he managed 11 goals in 34 games. Wow.

Hannover - 2 goals in 8 games.

Sevilla - 1 goal in 40. lol

Here - 6 goals in nearly 40 games in one of the most attacking Everton sides ever produced.

So as far as I can see, he's only actually done well at Levante on loan, and in Holland (where even Kuyt and Kezman could fill their boots).

I do wonder though if he had not got that injury if things would have gone differently for him?

Yes, probably because the desperate to defend him among us would have absolutely no reason at all to be quite so misguided.

doesn't make him a good player,

It certainly doesn't!

Again his goals and game total here is low because he's missed a massive chunk of his career through injury or are you that stupid to not understand that? I guarantee had he not got the injury when he did, he'd have a lot more goals to his name
