I agree 10 million was top money for Williams, if our new DOF can not go out and get a younger prospect from even the Championship or in the lower leagues abroad paying 12-20 million with a potential sell on fee.
That's what we paid Walsh to do as he did at Leicester, I would be happier, Williams at 10 million was a gamble, but a good one now he's not for sale let's move on!

In what way is Williams a gamble? A proven premiership player and leader. I'd suggest it's more of a gamble asking a championship player or lower league player from another country that you are suggesting we should sign to be more of a gamble.

TBH lads just disregard what the press say as 90% of it is pure invention passed off as speculation. Football journos are the laziest bunch of gits going, half would sell their own mothers if it got them word space. Listen to the club, negotiations will be on going and as I understand it AW wants to come to us as we have offered him substantially more money, at his age money will mean far more than loyalty, he is a typical Prem player. Swansea may well have to break their wages structure to keep him which in the long term will cost them dearly

williams would be absolutly ideal. would much rather spend 15mill on him than 30mill on an unpredictable european CB.

In the short term(3 seasons) as a defensive centrehalf would you prefer Stones or Williams ?

I cannot help but feel that John Stones is possibly more a defensive midfielder than a centrehalf proper. As good as he is I cannot help but feel there is always a mistake in him. He is ready made imo for the role Dier plays at Spurs.

Williams, on the other half , is a central defender, nothing else and just now after the season we had we need defenders first and footballers second in our defence.
