In my opinion for what it is worth , Young should never ever start another game for us; Bench at best.

I was fine with the signing an aside from a poor game at Villa he was o.k in the others.

The problem though is I thought he'd be rotation. By what logic does Dyche think a 38 year old can just play 70 + minutes every week? Have people seen the fixture list in December?

Other problem is squad has been stripped down to the bare bones at the back. If one of the CBs is out then bombscare Keane is straight back in. If Patterson pulls up early on Sunday then Godfrey will probably make his first appearance of the season.

That's going to be a massive problem in December if the chuckle brothers are out there against top 8 teams. Hopefully Seamus dosen't have any setbacks and he's a month away as he's at least a steady eddie to bring back into the backline.

It's up to the other fullbacks to show the manager that they deserve a place ahead of 39 year old Young.
In recent weeks Myko has stepped up. It's up to Patterson to show what he can do now, both in training and on the pitch.
Can't blame Dyche for not picking him when we haven't seen consistent decent performances yet. Hope he steps up.

During the early stages of the derby, he put in some decent tackles and showed some vital experience. Unfortunately though, because of his age, he is slower than he used to be. This plays tricks with some senior players' minds because their brains still think they are capable of things they cannot do anymore. That slight loss of speed is enough to invite shrewd opposition players to coax them into making poor decisions and committing clumsy fouls, especially later on in a game! This, in my opinion, is Young's problem.

Dyche must know this. This is why he should be used sparingly, to close out matches for instance. this is where his experience could be better utilised. He must have a profound distrust of Patterson to start with him. (n)

Just going through results so far he's had an absolute nightmare for some of the goals conceded.

Villa away he got absolutely roasted for their 1st goal and basically set up their 4th with a throw in straight to them

Wolves at home under no pressure at all tries to volley the ball upfield and in a panic it goes straight to their midfielder and about 10 seconds later they score

Luton he's at fault for the goal, who knows why he's trying to control a ball on the goal line.

Then the sending off on Saturday.

Him and Keane are an absolute disaster.

Hear me out. This sending off could be a good thing. Harrison is fit, he is the perfect fit IMO for someone like Patterson. We would have been hard pressed to get anything in that game, given the quality of 'refereeing'. Dyche was not going to drop Young so long as he continued to put in 5-6/10 performances.

He's let the manager down, Dyche won't like that. So long as Patterson grasps this opportunity, it really is his best chance (with Harrison in front of him) to showcase his attacking/athletic ability.

Blows my mind that he’s three years older than Seamus Coleman - who we were asking that a future plan be put in place for, given his in enemy retirement.

The fact that a few laters we brought someone in three years older - tells you exactly how broken this great club is.

Since 2007

Baines - £6mill
Coleman - £60k
Digne - £25mill
Patterson - £15mill
Myko - £15mill

So for 16 years we've spend technically around £31mill on fullbacks (Patterson and Myko were from selling Digne).

It's arguably the most underfunded area of the pitch for close to 2 decades

Thought Digne was a bit less...

£6.6 mill on Baines and Coleman - for the service they gave and performance's - Moyes was a genius.

It's the area of the pitch which epitomizes our recruitment issues, classic sentimental FC thinking the likes of Baines and Coleman even Digne would just go on forever. Our recruitment has/is easily the worst of any club in Europe imo, it's absolutely destroyed this club.

Putting him up against Luis Diaz was utter stupidity or blind hope, or both
