Just watched a full replay of the match, he barely put a foot wrong. Mykolenko was done by the winger on his side more times that Young was and the goal was very unlucky.

They don't like facts mate. Ssshhhh @MikeH72 @Marius57 @DuncanPatteYoung @Zatara @blulouie

Dave,

Young has been sent off in the derby, got booked almost every game, cost us when trying to take 3 touches on th goal line and has now scored an own goal….

Every one of those mistakes has cost us points.

The own goal wasn't his fault. Anyone that's ever played the game would know that.

I thought he had an ok game. Saying that, his rating on whoscored was only 5.7 which was the worst on our team. Trying to pretend he never put a foot wrong and didn’t get bypassed by Mitoma multiple times is disingenuous and shows you up.

I’m also not sure you understand what a fact is. As you are claiming that posters opinion is a fact. Which is isn’t.

He should have brought Young off with half an hour to go against Burnley when the match was won. If he had then Young doesn't run out of gas today.
Dave, Young runs out of gas every week, he would be ok to bring on for the last 20 minutes of a game when we need to hold on to a lead. As a starting choice he is just no longer fit for purpose. Even if he had played no minutes on Wednesday, he would still have been blowing for tugs after an hour, he always is and that's on Dyche for a/picking him and b/ not making his subs until it's too late.

Thought he did alright yesterday, which tbh was a bit of a shock. But clearly started to tire and Mitoma started getting more space down that side, would have liked to see him subbed earlier. But our bench is truly horrific, not even got any interesting youngsters to populate it.

The team doubled up on Mitoma, who was their most dangerous player, so Harrison was tasked with stopping the supply to him too nullifying his own attacking play. I’m disappointed they are not giving Patterson a run in the team but he has time on his side. This result isn’t all on Young he was steady yesterday, he could have been better with the ball but he defending ok for the most part of the game. I don’t believe there should be a witch hunt against him in all honesty.

You start out from the position that Patterson deserves a game in an Everton shirt, so your view of Young is clouded straight away.

The truth is that - even now at this stage of his career - he's a more accomplished FB than Patterson.

We'd have been beaten there yesterday had Patterson started. We were defensively solid until the goal. We simply dont get that when Patterson is anywhere near our defence...which is why manager after manager prefer to play others when they're fit.

The manager certainly sees Young as a starter...and he'll start next week against Palace too.
