Amazing isn't it. This is probably one of the most emotional bits of music for me

The organ must be the hardest instrument to learn to play.

There are so many bits and pieces, foot pedals and key manuals!
But I'm sure that if you can learn to play the organ, then you can learn to play any instrument.

During what we now call the Chistmas period, the ancient Egyptians used to decorate conifer trees and made wreaths as well as garland within their homes to celebrate Ra, the Sun God.

They believed that winter came every year because Ra was sick (ill not boss, though clearly boss too). On the 21st or 22nd of December, during the solstice, the population used to celebrate Ra by filling their home with beautiful evergreen trees.

This event was proof that the Sun God was going to get better.

Everyone is entitled to celebrate getting time off work with friends and family, I dont care what name this particular time of the year is called by others. Nothing in any of the various bibbles describing the date of Jesus’ birth. It was actually Pope Julius I in the 4th century who decided that Jesus was born on December 25th in order to tag on to the Pagan Saturnalia festival. All of these “stories” are regurgitated from previous eras so I treat all religions equally - population controls which are all equal and equivocal glimpses into the untrue. This, however, doesn’t mean I can’t have a rum and coke at 10am and eat chocolate for breakfast just because I don’t believe in a particular shouting man in the clouds who cares more about where my penis goes than infant and child abuse and death at the hands of his followers. Have a good one everybody x

I'm an atheist and we do not celebrate the CHRISTmas, we do celebrate the Solstice on Dec 21 and do gifts on that day. Bit of a bugger as Mrs Hawtrey has a birthday on the 22nd. WE still say Happy Christmas to those who celebrate as we would say Happy Hannukah to those who celebrate that. Live and let live, etc...
However I do hate it when people assume and say Happy Christmas to me just because I am an old white dude!

…they probably say ”Happy Christmas” because it’s Christmas ;)
