You're probably right that he isn't a '£30mil' player.

But in today's market, that's what PL clubs have to pay.
 
Wanted this guy for a long time. Since we played Standard Liege.

Remember that Liege team? Fellaini, Witsel, Mangala, Defour, Dante. Was ace.
 

If people are saying he looked gash last night, by that logic we should be buying most of the Welsh team.

I would be surprised if the transfer fee is north of 25 mill, isnt he in the last year of his contract.

We need a box to box midfielder , thought besic was going to be ours but he suffers from injuries alot. Who the best box to box midfielder ? Witsel or Dembele at spurs?
The R's go on about Henderson as one of the best box to box midielders
 
Just another James McCarthy to me, doesn't stand out enough. He does not warrant his transfer fee and reported salary. A few years ago I may have took him but he hasn't impressed me last couple of years.

Are we gonna end up with a team of prima donnas coming here for money? EFC is not about that and it isn't in our DNA

I think this lad is more complete and different gravy to anything we have, or seen from our midfielders in recent years. That said i beleive the likes of Barkely and McCarthy have massive untapped potential expect them to thrive under a coach who knows which part of a football is up.

Pretty sure that Witsel won't be the only centre mid we sign, think it's the part of the team that we are gonna get a complete overhaul in

Barry - too old and doesn't suit the type of systems Koeman uses, McCarthy - just not good enough and too limited, Cleverley - not good enough

Can only see Besic having a long term future from the 4 ones we currently have their, we sign 2 or 3 of the 4 centre mids we have been linked with then i'll be a happy bunny

Witsel, Strootman, Kovacic and Schneiderlein are all top centre mids good enough to win any midfield battle

Behave. That isn't me saying Witsel is good, that's me saying McCarthy is a fraud, and should be carted off to Robertos new jaunt or anywhere ASAP.
 
They say the battle is won in midield and we did have issues with the partnership of barry and James, plus barry career is coming to then end now. Barkley is hot and cold and James lost his mojo plus besic is never fit with Gibson. Clev may make it as he got potential for me. Plus I ant to see more of Davies so I recken if we are bringing new midielders in and kept Gibson hen we must be selling a player in this area.
Either besic or James or even cleverly

Schneiderlin would be an immense signing.
Knows how to win battles, has played in England (including the lower leagues) for the best part of 8 years now. In the premier league with Southampton he was immense, under the dinosaur Van Gaal not so much, but yeah, in excited for the prospect of signing Schneiderlin.
