Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

Indeed

He's looking out for himself, as he should

We should be looking out for ourselves and have other players in mind

and I'm sure we do Mikey.

But that doesn't mean we should be backing out of this deal when there's still a very solid chance of him signing for us. He's our no.1 target and if it takes longer to get him, then fine.

which is entirely reasonable :)

I just think it has taken too long to make a decision. Perhaps like some posters said if we need better footballers to upgrade our team we need to wait. Once it approaches the transfer deadline, their options run out then they might come. In the end two 11th place finish in a row was a deep damage to our club in attracting better players.

But according to someone who let us be honest is the only one keeping this deal alive on here (esk) he says Juve haven't and won't make a deal i think i read before.

So literally 'i'm not signing for you until Juventus tell me they don't want me'.

Surely i am not the only person who sees the fault in that? We have a deal on the table, they don't, we have had a deal on the table for quite some time, no-one else has. How long do we wait? a week? a month? 3 months? Because juventus might want him in january, or next year on a free?

As much as i want him to be an everton player i'm not blindingly ignoring the obvious here. and who do we sign if Witsel falls through as we are waiting for him? Do we go without then? save our money, oh well, we tried sort of attitude? What happens when Witsel does go to Juventus? But in 3 weeks time?

You aren't going to negotiate for another player if you are waiting on one to sign the contract, which could be weeks away again if he is just waiting and seeing.

MY point is, this juventus interest is fabricated, just fantasy according to our most in the know member. So waiting for interest that doesn't exist rather than move here?

Once again, you can't take it personally that we are his 2nd choice to Juventus.

Secondly, I am very confident we will have back up plans if we can't get this transfer through. Don't worry about that.

Thirdly, the Juventus interest is far from fabricated. The ITK you allude to said they haven't made an official bid, which I believe. But that is not the same as there being no interest or no contact between the two parties. The noise coming from Italy now is that Juventus have decided against trying to match our bid, if so, i'd expect some movement on this transfer this week. Happy days mate, try and smile!

Let's be honest, if Chelsea and Real Madrid wanted a player and offered the same offer, that player would go to Real Madrid.

If us and Juventus wanted a player and offered the same offer, that player would go to Juventus.

There's no reason for fans to get wound up over very normal situations - how long has Pogba been linked to United for with Real Madrid his supposed preferred move? When he signs for United, can you see their fans being annoyed that they weren't his first choice?

Witsel will be our player in no time and he'll be boss.

This guy seems the epitome of 'putting all your eggs in one basket'. Almost 4 weeks ago Esk said "he's ours" and we are still waiting for the annoucement.

how does it?

Just because no names have been mentioned doesn't mean we aren't seriously looking (looked) at other targets.

there's no evidence of that though - it's all based on assumptions...

Howling at players being called "tits" because they aren't jumping at signing for a club thats finished 11th in consecutive seasons.

The only way we are going to sign the calibre of players we seem to be going for is to pay through the roof, which is a means to an end as we should ultimately finish higher due to having better quality players therefor making it easier to sign quality players.

Just because another company offers you more money, if they are [Poor language removed] you don't exactly jump quick do you?

I swear people think because we are called Everton we should just have players bowing at our feet.

If that were true they would have signed him already.

I mean they have just signed away the league's top striker from their league rivals last year for a massive fee perfectly fine. So this isn't waiting for the Pogba deal to go through, they are already spending the Money. Or the way Pjanic joined the other week, plays in the middle just like pogba.

If you add up the fees as well it kinda rounds out to about what pogba will go for.

As i said to Ijjy in the other thread. If Cleverley kept Sunderland waiting because he was waiting for Real Madrid to express an interest then you would laugh at him. But this is the exact same position, and yet witsel is right to wait for the offer that won't come.

Ash... They aren't willing to match our bid. That doesn't mean they haven't expressed their interest in signing Witsel to him or his reps, they just aren't willing to go as high as we are.

He's definitely good enough to play for them given the amount of games they have. It's not like this Cleverley situation you're talking about

City's wealth is on a totally different level to the rest, also the rest of the clubs didn't have the tv money riches they do today, it's a lot harder to do a 'city' in todays game.
FFP is the biggest barrier to clubs doing a 'city'.
yes your correct, the city take over was at a time when not every other club come into money... massive factor, point taken lol. But can someone please just confirm this FFP issue, is it really a factor? everyones divided on it, some say its not a factor and we can spend what we want, others are saying we wont buy until we move on stonesy... looks like the latter, seeing we havent spent a cent??? but then youve got the likes of bournemouth who have spent 40mil... and that tells me ffp means nothing at all?

none of you know anything about this

none of you know if he's holding out for juve
none of you have any basis on which to call him a tit
none of you know he's only in it for money
none of you know if he didn't jump at the chance to move to us once our name was mentioned, and the things being discussed are anything to do with the player.

Are any of you patient enough for the best things in life? Or are you all going to make assumptions that the girl of your dreams is going to be without someone else so you go for the quickest option available which is fat sally who sweeps up hair in the nearest salon?

If our fans genuinely think we'd be able to target the higher calibre players and not have competition for them, they need to give their heads a wobble. lol

We're making our moves by paying that £5m over the odds for players to get them on board with us. The amount of of people who have slated Moshiri/Koeman for the lack of movement clearly haven't grasped how difficult it is to do what we're trying. We're selling the club's vision to players from top foreign leagues where we have barely been in European competition for their lifetimes.

We have a name in Europe for sure but when you're comparing us to some of the powerhouses it's no easy job. If anything, signing the likes of Witsel, Mata, Carvalho, Koulibaly should/will be seen as huge statements from the club.

This first window will be the hardest to attract that level of player but if we do so successfully (and we can't judge that until the end of the month), then the club deserves a lot of credit.

It definitely seems that clubs are taking us very seriously now though, which can only be a good thing. ;)

Agreed, however the lack of any outfield transfers probably isn't helping the situation - acting as a catalyst for their fear and concern.

If we'd already made an outfield acquisition, even one of questionable calibre, I doubt the furore would be anywhere near as significant.

In addition, lots of yet unproven talk of 'certainty' that it will go through and mentions of 'imminent incomings' have highlighted expectations.

I'm far less concerned whether we're going to sign Witsel or Carvalho etc, yet rather when our first meaningful player is coming - whoever that is.
