Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

Juventus and Everton are his two preferences. If Juventus drop out the race, and by all accounts they will, he will sign for Everton.

But why wouldn't he hold out to see if Juve can make a deal happen? Can people please stop being so sensitive about Juventus(!) being a far more glamorous destination than Everton.

An if they dont drop.out he signs for them and we are 5 weeks closer to the start of the season with no player. You cant wait indefinatley. The transfer is on hold until juve make there minds up if they really want him. We have to be looking for some one else now and if juve drop out in the mean time we complete the witsel deal.

An for those saying about not being able to convince them try getting the likes of witsel, carvalho and kiloubaly to a meeting at the same time and tell them about our plans. That way they can see we mean buisness and will be more convinced that its less of a risk they will be joining mediocrity.

Howling at players being called "tits" because they aren't jumping at signing for a club thats finished 11th in consecutive seasons.

The only way we are going to sign the calibre of players we seem to be going for is to pay through the roof, which is a means to an end as we should ultimately finish higher due to having better quality players therefor making it easier to sign quality players.

Just because another company offers you more money, if they are [Poor language removed] you don't exactly jump quick do you?

I swear people think because we are called Everton we should just have players bowing at our feet.

"Only coming here for the loyalty of a pay packet, should be dying for the shirt"

Sorry fellas, but this isn't 1985.

Agreed, however the lack of any outfield transfers probably isn't helping the situation - acting as a catalyst for their fear and concern.

If we'd already made an outfield acquisition, even one of questionable calibre, I doubt the furore would be anywhere near as significant.

In addition, lots of yet unproven talk of 'certainty' that it will go through and mentions of 'imminent incomings' have highlighted expectations.

I'm far less concerned whether we're going to sign Witsel or Carvalho etc, yet rather when our first meaningful player is coming - whoever that is.

That's true. It's less than 2 weeks before the start of the window and people will always get concerned about the lack of incomings.

I'm pretty sure that'll change this week though - good vibes ;)

none of you know anything about this

none of you know if he's holding out for juve
none of you have any basis on which to call him a tit
none of you know he's only in it for money
none of you know if he didn't jump at the chance to move to us once our name was mentioned, and the things being discussed are anything to do with the player.

Are any of you patient enough for the best things in life? Or are you all going to make assumptions that the girl of your dreams is going to be without someone else so you go for the quickest option available which is fat sally who sweeps up hair in the nearest salon?
So, you're calling us all kopites?

yes your correct, the city take over was at a time when not every other club come into money... massive factor, point taken lol. But can someone please just confirm this FFP issue, is it really a factor? everyones divided on it, some say its not a factor and we can spend what we want, others are saying we wont buy until we move on stonesy... looks like the latter, seeing we havent spent a cent??? but then youve got the likes of bournemouth who have spent 40mil... and that tells me ffp means nothing at all?

Just on Bournemouth their wage bill was £30 million last year. The STCC regulations do not kick in until wages are higher than £67 million so they've plenty of room to carry on spending.

If that were true they would have signed him already.
italian clubs trying to be tight bastards shocker.

and yes its possible for them to want a player at any cost and be prepared to have the hard buy for another. they viewed higuain as much more essential than witsel - it gives us a great chance of managing to get him, but certainly doesnt mean they dont have a very serious interest

Nowt wrong with a fat Sally every now and then...

As I said, once we've got one acquisition across the proverbial Finch Farm line then I think most people will start to mellow about our business.

In an ideal world we'd have all preferred all the primary signings to have signed already thus allowing time to bed in and be ready for Spurs.

But we've still got well over a week and a half before the season starts and then there's a few extra weeks until the window shuts.

Only then should we really judge and let's be honest, we're not the only team who've been quite slow with our signings regardless of new money.

I've got no issue with him choosing Juventus over us

Five consecutive titles and Champions League Football. Hardly something to be sniffed at

I actually have no issue with him whatsoever

My issue is with us not seemingly having a back up plan if he does indeed decide to go to Juve

I honestly think the club should now be operating on the assumption that he isn't coming and look elsewhere. If he does indeed want to play for us, his people will get in touch. In the meantime, we should be looking at other players and trying to get deals done

Better that than to wait twiddling our thumbs while he makes his mind up and missing out on the chance to get someone else as consequence

(And yes, we may very well be doing that already, in which case fair enough. No one attached to the club has actually said that though)
