Back to a David Moyes team

Baines is past it man
No he isn't, he's flavour of the month to be bashed. He's not lost anything except quality around him; seriously under-utilised and had to hold a lot to allow cover at the back when holgate played himself out of position (not a dig at him just youth inexperience) meaning he had to cover the back line shifting over. With martina having more positional sense and Klassenn, Rooney and Sandro having a better awareness when turning possession over; making better runs into the box for him to pick out I think he'll be back to his technical best next season.

The first year under Martinez was a summer romance after a 12 year sexless marriage.

It was a fling. He wasn't right for us after all when the excitment was gone. All those things he bought us, most of them only seemed good at the time.

I pine for those rosey, sepia tinted days of playing from the back sometimes as well. Inbox me bbz. xx

Nah he's done. Not seen him once this pre-season try and beat a man and cross in. Just turns around.

You may be right I may be living in hope of a Dixon'esq end to a career but I'll have to live in hope though as we won't be getting anymore defenders in who'll challenge for his starting spot. He's nailed on to play the majority of games next season.

Howard Kendall's team had no 'stars' unless you count an aging but brilliant Andy Gray. That team was the most successful Everton side ever. Building a winning team is the aim of any manager not the accumulation of 'stars' unless they can help the team. More important than whether the players gob appears on the cover of the latest FIFA game is does he WANT to play for the team. Apparently none of these 'jewels' did . Ah well San fairy ann, onward and (hopefully) upward.
Ps. If you want to watch 'stars' get a telescope.

Stones wanted to leave..as did Rom. Ross does too. Geri had a buy back.
Do you expect us to handcuff them to the training ground?

They are no way superstars. Young players who had potential. Some of it fulfilled. Most of it not.

I cant keep repeating the same answers....

Seems like you think better teams are buying our rubbish players for huge amounts because they haven't fulfilled their potential.

Whatever, its irrelevant. The only interesting point Is that they haven't been replaced

I'm not sure going back to the 80s to give a non-Leicester example really underlines your point...

In recent times only Leicester have done this.

I hate these types of threads. Knocking the team before we have seen them play, criticising the players because we (sic) think they are not good enough.

I'll tell you in September if they look as though they may have something and if and when they start lifting trophies that they are (or not) as the case may be.

Football is about looking forward and supporting the players that wear our club shirt, regardless of our personal opinion of them. After all we have never had a goal scorer as good as Dixie Dean, does that mean we should not have sold Frannie Jeffers because he had potential? Made a load of money on that deal, turned out to be right.

The whole basis of the thread is wrong. Try looking forwards - those players - whilst they were wearing blue - got my support, now they don't (or won't be) are nothing more than footballers the same as Barton, Savage, Ched Evans .....I simply don't care about them.

I'd rate Koeman much higher than Moyes tbh

This season is crucial for him now, especially as it looks like he didn't want Del or Ross. The players he picks to replace them simply have to deliver, especially if Del and Ross do well at their new clubs

Lukaku is a different kettle of fish and I don't think Koeman deserves any real stick for that

But with Ross and Del he has to get their replacements right, otherwise he's made us worse of his own accord

Once koeman has his own team on that pitch then he can be rightly judged. But comparing him to Moyes is outrageous I think

Stones probably still not ready to be first choice CB in challenging team needed a manage who could teach him defend. Choose to leave to have more money and Champions League football unfortunately I believe he made wrong choice by joining City and will go backwards.

Deulofeu is an exciting player to watch but doesn't have enough of an end product to make up for the fact he is neither hard working or fit. Will spend a lot of time on Barcelona's bench before moving on to a lower club in a hope of starting games.

Lukaku an absolute beast of a scorer against smaller teams but if his service dried up became a passenger. He was also a player that downed tools od things didn't go his way. I think he has the potential of taking it to the next level at United. I also see the potential of it all falling apart when him and Jose have a falling out.

Barkley is an enigma of a player as ib he has all the potential in the world but somehow br still can't shake being that 18/19 yo that makes wrong decision. His choice on club is crucial as if he makes the wrong one he could end up on the edge and if that was the case he might as well have stopped here.

I don't think Del needs replacing as such as he wasn't a fixture in Koeman's first season was he. It's like saying we need a replacement for McGeady and Niasse.
