Baines: We have no chemistry

I thought Eto'o was being a pest behind the scenes. I don't remember anything in the press about him causing trouble until he was already gone.

Distin's form was very bad which led to him being dropped and also I think led us to undervalue his complaining.

But he didn't even say what the headline here is saying he said.

I think folks making a huge deal out of nothing. A respected, senior player expressing frustration after another disappointing result.

The fans deserved nothing less than a player allowing an interview to try to explain that they are just as frustrated as we are.

Far too much reading between the lines and making stuff up.

Great for fuelling agendas though.
I don't disagree with your post, but Baines should know better than to make such comments in the current climate. He's not your average thick footballer, but he's been a tad short-sighted with his loose tongue. Airing dirty washing in public isn't Everton I'm afraid.

Is Baines "any senior player?" I've never heard him speak to media like this, ever.

Eto'o knew. He had to. Distin probably knew too.

Man, for Jags to say we didn't take enough chances when he, a CB, had by far and a way the best shot...

Professional footballers covering their own backsides....there's a shock.

Some, quite wrongly I think, underestimating the BAINES comments....it's powerful stuff and, genuinely, I think it'll set the ball rolling...it's just a matter of which way it goes from here...the one thing it will unquestionably do is open up a series of questions and examination behind the scenes...he's a senior, well-respected pro, highly thought of...all that...but for the most he's a quiet kid...that's why I think the impact of the int's gonna be big in numerous ways, both in and out of the club (media/story wise). In many ways he's the perfect candidate to make such an outburst really...y'know, if you were gonna pick someone to do it then he is...he's perfect really...

And that's about the only thing that's been well managed with this squad lately.

Personally I take the chemistry bit to be applied directly and aimed at the management/coaching side of stuff.

Anyone watched JONES take a session on the pitch?

I rest my case....
The voice of a quite man speaks volumes.

The alternative being to listen to brown shoes blame the fans for our season.

I say let's here more from the players.

and you know all this for a fact or are you, like most, just making assumptions?

I don't know any of these as facts, didn't say I did. There's some assumptions that are widely held on here, one being that Kenwright unfailingly backs Martinez, the other being that the players are behind him. Now we have players coming out clearly dissatisfied at something. We do know that Kenwright is close to the players. I just can't believe that they are singing his praises to Kenwright, Kenwright is backing him to the hilt, then the players say something different to the media. Something seems up, I don't know what it is though.

so you make stuff up and post it anyway.

Kenwright is based in London and hasn't been to as many games as usual this season.

I find it hard to believe he has much contact with the players tbh.

At his peak one of the best 2-3 left backs in the world IMO, had a move to United turned down and didn't moan, go the press or kick up any fuss, just got on with playing his game and giving everything for the club, always been 100% behind the fans and crediting them at every opportunity, the diference in ability between him and Martinez in their respective roles is laughable, go back to Wigan and finish the project you started Martinez

P.S. sons middle name is Leighton so yeah a bit biased like ;)

Won't disagree....I'd start by listening to them in order of consistency and good form over the season. I'd listen to Gareth Barry....I think he's best positioned to speak in that he's a rock-solid professional and has been our most dependable player week-in week-out. The queue after that would be very short.
I'd also be happy to listen to the manager speaking forthrightly about his players instead of continually supporting them and covering their arses.

Been a top player for us has Baines, but two things in particular have taken the shine off his performances.....his confidence-sapping World Cup performances, and the loss of Pienaar in front of him. Those two things changed him from top class to just a good footballer. He stopped taking pens, stopped getting assists and started picking up injuries.

Yeah mate, Baines is just any old pro footballer isnt he, with no ties to the club hes supported his whole life, hes ONLY got his own interests at heart, I mean its not like he can keep his mouth shut and STILL earn 70k a week or nothing.

He's the Pat Nevin of the day.....articulate, bright and not your run-of-the-mill stereotypical footballer. But that doesn't make him untouchable. Sure I read somewhere that as a kid he was a Red too?
Irrelevant anyhow, because the furore about what he's said has just been blown out of proportion....I'm certain it wasn't a pop at the manager....rather a pop at the teammates. If not, considering how loyal and honest you've said he is (which for clarity I'm not questioning) why wouldn't he just come out and say "the managers tactics don't work and he's bought a player who is absolute pants in training" if that wer the truth?
