Beer, revisited

Lol.

Cumberland is one of my favourite beers lol

* not many places look after it properly and that's one of its biggest problems
This one of the biggest problems I admit: it seems the choice of cask for many pubs who want a token real ale or are fledgling to the cask scene.

So, often it tastes like vinegar mixed with syrup and gives you the bloody trots the next day, hence why I now religiously keep well away from it.

As a brewer perhaps they should be more cautious of whom they're selling it too as it's getting a bad reputation, but a sale is a sale I guess.

It's the bar staff from experience, they've had no input on how to look after it, let alone pour it.

I've lost count of the amount of times that I've had a full pint poured in one go into a vertical glass :(

Potent indeed.

I’m loving that series of bottles that Guinness have going. All for the story behind the grog.
To be honest, I wasn't too bothered with the Dublin Porter, it was OK but the West Indies is just knockout. I think it's easy to forget in this age of marshmellow and pine needle infused experimental IPA's, just what a superb beer Guinness is.

You’re right, full of flavour followed by a punch in the face.

Dublin Porter is just not potent enough.

First time I indulged in the W’indies Porter was in the bar directly facing O’Neill’s in Liverpool. Can’t remember the name.

Got me in great form for the game though.

Dont think so...had a cracking pint of Cumberland in the Bush Inn Cockermouth last Wednesday...of course the Jennings brewery is based there...always used to be on tap at the Roscoe Head.

I'm with you in that one mate, if it's looked after its a belting session ale.

The funniest description I've heard of its taste by someone who didn't like it, was " tastes like dog biscuits "
