Beer, revisited

Ask for a taste before you buy anything in there, as the ale can be a bit ropey.
Emphasis on 'a bit'.

With regards to the Fly, it initially stayed closed on a temporary basis back in July, but I'm surprised that they still haven't opened.

Perhaps they're doing some refurbishment work or simply don't think the margins would be worth it yet. I'll ask Paddy if he knows anything when I see him next.

We've just walked back from town and stopped in the Baltic and the Coburg and was very nice.

Does the Coburg do cask now ?

Got in Philharmonic (beautiful btw) and saw Millionaire stout but it wasn’t available :-(

It’s a place for the ascetic rather than the beer.

Every time I go in there half the stuff is off.

Can usually get a nice Camden pale ale though.

They’ll always do great business there so they don’t seem to bother with the ale.

And the staff know nothing about what they’re serving either.

I much prefer the bar in the Phil, it’s great for a proper lazy afternoon session

I had Camden Hells lager which was as expected. Now I’m Ship and Mitre. Drinking Hophurst Bittersweet Symphony milk Stout with cherry and vanilla - 6.5%

Yes and no. Dean did put it on and rotated between Wainwrights, Sharps Atlantic or Doom Bar, kept pretty well too, but it really wasn't drank that often.

It's on occasionally now and still kept well, but I usually only know when I get a text telling me it's on. If it's not on, he has some bottles in or I drink the lager etc.

I quite like the pub because it's got a solid local clientèle who frequented the Tap all mixed in with the passing trade from the Baltic etc. Dean runs it very well too!

I didn't actually check today as my wife went in and I had a Guinness.
