Beer, revisited

Vermont lager and lime, y'all.

Summer brew, that one...I read too fast and thought it said 'Scrag Mountain Piss', which may have been their intention all along.

Lawson's used to be like TOP top tier. Sip of Sunshine was the #1 rated IPA for years. Haven't had anything from them in ages but Sip...changed when they went to distribution. Wasn't as amazing as the couple times I had it before.
Yeah, I think maybe scaling has taken its toll on Sip since they started brewing it at Two Roads in Connecticut. It's still very good but not the sort of positively luminous beer I've traditionally associated with Lawson's.

I recall standing in a deep line early one morning, maybe ten years ago, at a farmer's market in Waitsfied, VT, to get four bottles (the maximum purchase allowed) of Lawson's Double Sunshine. In retrospect I wonder to what degree my love of that brew was tied up in the difficulty of procuring it. Perhaps if I'd been able to grab a few bottles from the cooler at the neighborhood packy it wouldn't have seemed so glorious.

Huh, didn't realize Two Roads makes it now. They make decent beer as well but my local brewery has a similar issue with scaling.

The Lakes at the weekend. I had every intention of sampling loads, but these two were that good, I didn’t drink anything else.

Swan Blonde ( 4%) Bowness Bay - has to be the best Summer ale on the market right now. Zesty, crisp and light.

Olivers Light Ale (3.4%) Coniston.

Despite it’s low strength, tastes beautiful. Similar to the Bowness Bay, but without the zest. Plus you can drink buckets of it.

Went for an interview this afternoon, in a pub. Supposed to meet at 3.00 pm, but of course you have to be early just in case. Had a pint of this to calm the nerves :

Quarter past three, no sign of anyone, decide to have another. Time rolls on to 3.40 and I've given up. Barman asks if I want another, I explain I've been waiting for someone for an interview, suddenly, the chap at the next table, who was there when I arrived, pipes up and says that he is the said person I've been waiting for. Interview commences with a third pint, then a fourth. We leave shaking hands, I thought the interview went exceedingly well, but I can't be sure. lol
