Naismith may have been good for Everton but going on his three and half years with us or should I say Hearts (where he went on loan for quite a bit of the time) he was a major disappointment and cost us not only £9.5m in transfer costs but millions in wages. For a club of our size that was a major cost for practically nothing.
Sorry but I've got to say it as it was.

As for Walker, he did a good job for us and then decided he couldnt stay working for our Chairman. As he said in a BBC programme (its on youtube) he had a difference of opinion with the Chairman as to the way forward regarding the team. He left and then he's working at Everton. Its up to the you as to what you think of Walker's management of the Everton team, feel free to express it.
Blimey should we list all the duds we have signed over the last few years. Happens to all clubs do get over it

Curious to see where he's going to play, I know Ancelotti likes to rotate a lot during Christmas but I don't see Keane/Mina getting dropped unless one of them do a massive cock up, Can see him and Allan switching a lot during the season.
Would imagine Allan is much, much, less likely to be dropped than Mina. We, as fans, have a really weird habit of buying players for large amounts of money and then expecting them to play in a different position.

Him and Allan?
I don’t see Allan being rested or dropped at all this season, he’s to important

I didn't include Allan in being "dropped" part more of injury/rotation if needed, I mean Godfrey has played as a DM before so it's hardly the unknown for him.

I think versatility could be key in the next 3 months, drop into CB or even as the DM late in the game to rest Allan, even with his pace, a right wing back in a 5.
I think he will prove to be a great signing.

I think initially he'll be the versatile defensive player on the bench but if either Mina or Keane have a stinker he will get a chance. Long term I think he will be first choice but he may just have to wait for an opportunity.

Won't hear a bad word said about Naismith you utter monster, clever little player who thrived on having intelligent players like Baines, Coleman, Pienaar, Barry, Lukaku around to play off and an eye for goal.

The name's a bit Meh, in fact very Meh, he sounds like a catholic priest who likes boys, father Godfrey.

But if Carlo rates him I'm all in

I think Carlo will use his CB pieces as he sees fit from game to game.

Godfrey will play. Carlo will probably insert him for the first time when a current CB plays poorly, and then use the competition for places as a goad to demand performance. If he gets a rotation that he feels "works", he's likely to stick with it until someone has a poor match, then insert the combination he feels works best for the next fixture, and iterate.

Without wanting to go off topic, there's some 'interesting' recollections of Naismith here. He was a trier, and not without ability, but he was very, very, average. There's a reason virtually his entire top level career came with us, and he was a bit part player for almost all of it.

Anyway, very interested to see what Godfrey can do.
