He had a difficult first season too, we just don't usually rip our players then because we talk ourselves into them when they sign.
The way he runs back and plays Zaha onside for the third goal is comical. He's just not a natural defender.
An athletic player who doesn't suit any position. File under Jack Rodwell.
He had a great first season. Good enough to get into the England squad.
