Boxing

Strange the IBF have come out with that like. If a re-match was ordered every time there is a premature stoppage or dodgy points decision, then virtually every other fight would be a re-match.

The quote from Groves I found strange, saying he has invested a lot of money into this appeal, I assume he meant some sort of legal fee's or something along those lines, because if the fighters themselves contribute to the cost of an appeal prior to that decision then that leaves them on dodgy ground. Having said that I don't think this is a bad thing, even though this fight is a long way from being boxing's biggest controversy, but governing bodies putting refs and judges, more so the judges, under greater scrutiny is a good thing. I don't for a second think that the ref in this fight did anything intentionally untoward, he was just a bit trigger happy

Pacquio and bradley re match announced, has pacman slipped a little since then when he cerainly won that fight, you could argue Bradley has kicked on, also worth remember he fought most the fight with a broken ankle the tough SOB. After a governing body ordered a re match claiming inappropriote conduct from a ref, it would be nice to see the judges treated the same way, as it is weve had to wait for a rematch here and it may have come too late for pacman to set the record straight, all the same an interesting fight

The mandatory defence probably hurts groves given the mandatory percentages applied per ranking , far from convinced it'll just happen I suspect a lot of negotiating to come yet.

Good to see you mate, thats the rumour regards percentages, maybe Hearns had an inkling when he offered the first contract, particulary giving the timing of the announcement, not having to pay booth anymore, any fight will seem like a rich one to groves

I actually think the fight will happen, ward wont fight in the UK, Chavez is tied up with vera, and I think he would rather face groves than golovkin. The words from carls camp have been very different these last few weeks, I just get the impression this is the best option right now, or even the only real option, plus I think Hearns will be pushing this fight all the way as its mega bucks

Dont really post any more mate but boxing will always tempt me in .

It's the only option in reality but i understand that froch wants to look whats out there and the best offer for groves at this stage will always be the non-mandatory . I must admit I'm sure if you weren't sure you'd think that groves won that fight from the way it's been reported since , it was stopped too early but there was only one winner at that stage and i'm staggered any real boxing fan could think different . That's not to decry the brilliant performance before that from Groves but unless they'd made it a 5 or 6 round fight there was a long way to go.

Groves is beholden to Hearn & Froch and the mandatory doesnt really change that for me . Im sure Froch would Like a decent litte payday with not too much work before the fight and frankly given his incredible record of fighting at the the very top end who could blame him ?

Price won earlier. Fought a step-in. Hope he gets a couple of decent fights and makes himself a few quid. Would like to see him box Fury at some point.

I agree entirely mate, Groves performance, while very good up till round 7 has now reached mythical status, for the tide was turning, and I've never seen Groves finish a tough fight strongly, granted he hasn't really had the opportunity, but even against Degale, I thought he lost the latter round, and Froch is a lot stronger than Degale

Heard a few bad rumours about Price, he has ability and undoubted punching power, but if theres any truth in them I think that nervous energy is always going to get the better of him when it matters

he's been seeing someone to help him, i think. I'd be shocked if he won a world title but hopefully he'll make a decent living out of it. Seems a good lad.

Great to read someone who hasn't bought into Groves being seconds away from from a huge win , biggest load of tosh I've heard for years all that but I read it time and time again so much it almost becomes true . You'd think groves had Froch on the ropes the way it's Been spun , mostly by journo's who've never boxed a round in their lives, it's not only pathetic it's insulting .

Yep me to , his problems are all said and seem to be in his head and I'm not sure he'll ever be in a position to leave that behind .

Thats the problem, were now a minority sport who gets covered by football journalists only when something big enough is happening, they have no grounding in boxing at all, sky dont help much, halling and watt pick a side and stick with it till the end, ignoring whatever work the other fighter does. I feel for Froch to be honest, he has to defend himself against all sides because the ref stopped it a little early, even though it did look like groves wanted to turn away, but fairs fair, it was early. There was plenty of bad blood before and after, but lets be honest, Froch isn't the only guy in boxing who can't stand groves
