For a 19 year old to come back the way he has after the City game is a credit. He had Pedro in his pocket. The couple of times he was caught with two players on his side he timed his movement like an old pro. He will come on leaps and bounds with more game time.
At present Baines, when fit, offers more of an attacking option but if the young lad can add that to his game then our left back is sorted for years to come.

I thought Galloway was considered more of a centre back...

Surely Garbutt will be the successor at Left Back hopefully, although he doesn't seem as solid defensively yet.

He was considered as a centre back, that could be changing. He does look like he could play centre half very comfortably, if Luke Garbutt can match Galloway's performance yesterday so much the better. Young players coming through the ranks is a sheer joy. It makes being a fan of a club like Everton so much better than being a fan of Chelsea.

Sign of a good player that is mate

I don't think his display was bad at all against City. He's 19, playing out of position, and was isolated as Kone did not cover for him at all. Was also up against the best playmaker in Europe at the moment in Silva and Navas, who is one of the quickest.

It was a learning curve for him, and he showed that he learnt the lesson. Much like Stones has.

Our defenders coming through are: Browning, Galloway, Garbutt, Holgate (Stones is the same age but already established). Great core at the back that. All look more than capable. Hopefully Browning proves this if Coleman is out for a while.
