Brendan Galloway

I don't think his display was bad at all against City. He's 19, playing out of position, and was isolated as Kone did not cover for him at all. Was also up against the best playmaker in Europe at the moment in Silva and Navas, who is one of the quickest.

It was a learning curve for him, and he showed that he learnt the lesson. Much like Stones has.

Our defenders coming through are: Browning, Galloway, Garbutt, Holgate (Stones is the same age but already established). Great core at the back that. All look more than capable. Hopefully Browning proves this if Coleman is out for a while.

All of them, bar Holgate who has been earning rave reviews for the U21's, have had some games starting for us and have for the most part looked good enough to make the step up. I can't remember a time where we have seen so many promising youngsters around the first team, especially defenders. Future does look bright and it makes me less worried about the future of the defence aftet last year.

Got in the BBC team of the week

It's not the first time that Brendan Galloway has deputised for Leighton Baines on Everton's left but I can't remember him playing such a prominent role as he did against Chelsea. His cross for Steven Naismith's first goal was superb. One Goodison banner said "No Means No, Jose. All Cash, No Class" in reference to Chelsea's botched attempt to lure John Stones to the Bridge.

Mourinho might have been more astute trying to buy Galloway instead. At least Mourinho would have one left-back in his team who is naturally left-footed.

But the 19-year-old believes every Blues player deserves credit and says the key to victory was them refusing to be overawed by the Premier League champions.

“We know what we can do and we don’t fear anyone, especially when they come to Goodison,” declared Galloway. “They may have been the champions but we didn’t give them that respect. “We shouldn’t give anyone any respect, especially in games at Goodison. “We always know what we are capable of, we do it everyday in training, and we’ve started the season well. “To carry that on into this match was really important and we did that.” And on Naismith’s heroics, Galloway added: “He was unbelievable and to get a hat-trick against the champions is something special. “We all performed and put in a shift but Naisy was extra special.”

Galloway returned to the Everton side on Saturday following a knee injury. The teenager was making his sixth Premier League start for Everton after emerging as the Blues’ understudy to Leighton Baines last season. Just over 12 months ago, Galloway was playing for the club’s under-21s after joining from MK Dons but insists he has not been unsettled by the speed of his progression.

“I don’t feel any pressure because I train with top class internationals everyday so when it comes to the match, it is not new,” he said. “I don’t like to show anyone any respect. They might be the champions but we are on the same pitch for a reason. “I’m still young and still learning and hopefully I can get to that next stage. “I want to keep on working hard. “I’m humble. I have good parents who keep me grounded, which is important to me, and my sisters and cousins do that as well.
“I know what I am achieving but I don’t want to get too ahead of myself because I want to keep on improving.”

Galloway has now faced flying wingers Jesus Navas and Pedro in the space of a few weeks but says he never feels nervous before any game. “I don’t feel nervous,” Galloway added. “I prepare myself well and listen to my music to calm my nerves.
“When it kicks-off it’s just a game and you focus on doing the best for your team. “You forget everything else and who you are playing against. “The manager and the staff help us with that as well.”

He's arguably the most gangsta individual at the club.

good lad, right attitude as well.

Some of our older pro's could learn a thing or two about not showing too much respect to other teams.

Everton are to offer Brendan Galloway a lucrative new contract to reward his rapid rise into the first-team. The 19-year-old defender has made six starts for the Blues after breaking into the senior set-up at the end of last season. Galloway was outstanding in Everton’s 3-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday and provided the cross for Steven Naismith to score the first of his three goals.

And now, Everton will try and tie Galloway down to a fresh long-term deal to reflect his growing status at the club. A number of leading Premier League clubs are understood to be keeping tabs on the teenager’s progression and so Everton are keen to sort his future out in the coming days. Galloway signed a four year deal when joining from MK Dons in August, 2014. The Blues fended off interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs for his signature and are keen to ensure his future remains at Goodison.

Roberto Martinez had planned to send Galloway out on loan this season but the teenager’s performances throughout pre-season changed his mind. Earlier this season, Martinez said: “I think Brendan is ready to play left-back at this level,” said the Blues boss. “After 50 games he could play centre-half. “At the age that he is, 19, every day is an improvement and every day he’s getting better.”

He can certainly talk a good game for a 19 year old. Whether or not he is the most talent player ever is debateable, but if self belief counts for anything then he will go a long long way in the game.
